Breaking into comic writing is hard these days it use to be comics was where you started till you could move on to a "Real" job hell even Stan Lee admitted that was his plan originally. But now you have prove yourself outside of Marvel and DC to get a writing gig with them. So many comic board mods and comic Youtubers are wannabe writers and will kiss Marvel, DC, and creators butts in hopes of gaining brownie points to get a chance at one of the big two.

I think the real cringe here is the forum mods

Agreed, the desperation to toady to a Real Industry Figure is just... pathetic.

I mean Waid's shit is cringey and pathetic too... he obviously reported the post and ordered the moderator to ban the dude ("Yes, master!"), and there they both are smugly not saying it was him, plus he refused to address the points in the post until he could do it while making it clear that anyone who disagreed with him or said anything he didn't like would be banned and their posts deleted. The moderator's mostly cringey for how eager he is to Renfield to the decaying corpse of Waid's career.

So do you think Waid's return indicates he's been given the boot, or at least just finally realized the Marvel chapter of his life is over? Or has he been emboldened by finding out he's been given some other book to run?

My bet is that he's been informed in an unofficial capacity that he won't be getting any more contracts with them, even if they haven't made a formal announcement cutting ties. Probably optimistic, though.

Just before Waid pulled his AP stunt he was already given a couple series including: Marvel's Doctor Strange, Ant-Man & The Wasp and a new Archie Comics series. Once those contracts are over it's a 'wait and see' game whether he gets more work from Marvel/Archie or not.

Watching DnC and Waid wrote one of the cringiest pages ever written. x and i are genius math, right guys?

That depends on how many industry insiders know about what he did with Antarctic Publishing and how that resulted in a violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Personally, I wouldn't hire him to scrub shitty toilets at a fast food joint.

I don't even get what that equation means, what's the context and why Mark Waid still have a job?

Isn't the whole point of the Hulk that he's an insensate mass of rage and violence? Or is this some bullshit like Hulk somehow uses quantum physics to collapse buildings so they only kill innocent people?

Different Hulk, this is some post-zeroes Marvel asshat's self-insert.

Eh, "Smart Hulk" is a thing that's gone back at least to the 1980s, when he assumed the "Joe Fixit" persona.

Thing about that was it was actually clever and different. Filling talk bubbles with gibberish you got from smashing your old TI calculator doesn't qualify.

That Hulk is Asian Hulk and his normal form is True and Honest Hulk asian sidekick created by Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa who was created in January 2005, is probably a self insert since he rapidly was added to the in-universe and real life top 10 smartest mens really fucking fast and wasn't the hulk until 2015, the character was used by the writer to asspull a retcon that Hulk "totally never killed anyone/HE DIDDU NUFFIN!" at some point before Waid ever put his slimy paws on him

Yeah, as @Zaryiu pointed out, when I said "different Hulk" I meant that he's literally a different (and shitty) character. He's one of those examples of a character that by all appearances the fans near-unanimously despise but all the writers love (probably because the fans despise him). Of course that might just be the impression I got from all the complaining, I'm not sure what sales look like. (After all, if you just looked at online fan reaction you'd be informed that 110% of all life forms on Earth absolutely detest Wolverine, but his sales numbers tend to tell a different story.)

Many on the CG side believe that his Doctor Strange run may be his last true run at Marvel, his other books still seemed to be phoned in with little to no effort, but Doctor Strange is considered to be good. They consider the run to be a reflection of MW's career; It's a story about someone who used to be at the top of their field, but somehow lost his mojo, doesn't want to seek help and has to go on a journey to find it again.

Youtube it's from, ~20 minutes in. You know how when two nerds in a field get together and make bad puns? This is Waid's version of that for supergeniuses. The fistbump at solving a problem from chapter 2 of Pre-Algebra for Kids is the best.

If they learn calculus, they could solve world hunger.
