Oh sweet, so this fat old fuck is likely the reason why Marvel has been getting more SJW-er lately.

Haven't their sales shown why that's not a good thing?

Because I really can't imagine him beating people up with his gigantic muscles, he seems about 2-3 years from a massive heart attack considering the sheer levels of rage and stress he generates from a crap youtubber.
Actual picture of Mark Waid as he cock-blocks D&C’s Comic from getting into comic stores:

Never meet your heroes, specially on social media.

It occurs to me that Waid is what Andrew Dobson could be, if Dobson wasn't so lazy. Waid's behavior is that of a complete fucking autist who glommed onto extreme IngSocJus at some point in the faint hopes that he could attract some woke feminist with his woke hot takes, and now he's stuck in it. But they still won't date him because of his :autism: :autism: :autism: tard rages, such as was chronicled early on in the thread by the former editor.

This is one of my reasons why I no longer buy Marvel or DC comics (I'll still read DC though, I just wont buy them) and prefer my indie publishers and manga/ manhua

It apparently went straight to his head. I liked it too, but he's really gotten unhinged. Waid first entered my radar when he was publicly sperging on his facebook about D&C's Meyer might be attending the same con as him, and he put out a call-to-arms asking for all his professionals and fans to pull him aside, even if speaking at a panel, so he could go confront him(presumably to start a fight). It's fucking mental how he can't take criticism of troons in the industry. Waid wasn't even one of D&C's targets of criticism! Ultimate white-knighting so hard, it horsehoe'd around into becoming essentially a black knight.

this happened around September 2017 contextually. The Federalist has an article on it, as do a few other outlets. Honestly these industry pros had no fucking business paying this much attention to a youtube nobody, but here we are!

That is terrific. The guy immediately and directly answered his question that harassment is unambiguously bad, but the narrative required that Waid pretend he didn't hear anything.

To clarify, Mark Waid got famous at DC first, then Marvel picked him up to write a few things. Both companies take successful, fan-beloved creators on, and drop them when they start behaving stupidly in public. Well, they used to, the threshold for that seems to have gotten very high in recent years.

I'm glad I had the presence of mind to screencap it, never thought it would continue to blow up this way 8 months later. I don't think many people have seen that exchange or kept track of it. Definitely belongs in the 1st page of his own break-off thread.

Kingdom come's a pretty good comic however.

Kingdom is the first thing that gets mentioned when any defence of Mark Waid gets made.
But without that Alex Ross art it's a pretty basic story. That painted / hyper real style could elevate shit like squirrel girl.

Personally I much preferred irredeemable until the last few issues which where a rushed cluster fuck.

that's a great point, Kingdom Come is more visually impressive than it is story-wise.

The thing is, Mark Waid never managed to get a handle on the internet, and it clearly shows in his online conduct: endless tantrums whenever something doesn’t go as he would like, constant virtue signalling about “How the strong should protect the weak” while bullying others into silence at same time, and staying quiet about sexual harassers within the industry. He also frequently rage quits social media whenever he gets a pushback on his insanity. Below are some examples:

I genuinely think the real reason Waid loves Rose Tico is because she pisses off Star Wars fans so much. Which, you may recall, is the same reason Andrew Dobson has gone on record as loving her.
It makes too much sense for people as petty as Mark and Dobson to like characters out of spite towards a fanbase.

Anyway, it's so deliciously ironic that his attempts at sabotaging Zack's comic will likely torpedo his own career.

Everyone always talks about Kingdom come but never the sequel (the kingdom).
Both written by Waid but with a key difference....shitty art left the story's short comings obvious.

I'm not the biggest follower of his work but I know critics accused him of a gay version of "women in refrigerators" where any gay characters introduced in or before his run get killed off or portrayed as villians....guess he's making up for that.

I've heard nothing but praise but Mark Waird's work. Wasn't familiar with his online behavior. Never expected to see him in a thread here, let alone for such faggotry like what he did to Diversity and Comics. Very disgusting.

I never really cared for Waid but I soon came to cringe whenever I saw his name - he's the sort of fanboy groupie who became a "real" comics writer and whose only influences seem to be other superhero comics. He claims his biggest source of inspiration was a comic book he read when he was five:

He has stated that his comics work was heavily influenced by Adventure Comics #369–370 (196 9, the two-part "Legion of Superheroes" story by Jim Shooter and Mort Weisinger that introduced the villain Mordru, "It's a blueprint for everything I write."[3]

Imagine being over fifty years old and your major influence is two disposable superhero comics that were literally written by a 16-year-old. He's not even inspired by pulp writers like some of the early comics writers. He's not even inspired by "accomplished" comic book creators (whatever that would look like). Overgrown professional fanboys like Mark Waid, are obsessed with comic books, especially superhero comics as an art form and they slave over them. They've never grown out of that pre-pubescent period of being shocked and awed by carelessly written adventures that were deliberately printed on the cheapest paper available. They used to expend outsized amounts of effort to recreate the "magic" of the Silver or Bronze Age comics they grew up reading through slavish pastiche, but these days they are going to "elevate" it with their usually inane social justice polemics inserted and talk of superheroes "punching up" to show just how socially aware capebooks must be.

A lot of people don't realize that the artist means more to a comic than the writer. Alex's signatures can go for hundreds of dollars on a piece of art. Mark's signature goes for a hundred dollars on a comic. Writers today don't even get long lineups at conventions and tend to be the last ones you go to if you're getting older comics signed (or if the writer is old themselves and may go at any time).

Anyone can write a comic, it's harder to get an artist to "fit" the book.

Do we have confirmation that Cebulski ordered him off social media?
