Where the Red Fern Grows is a better one imo. Especially since it's not just a dog story, since half the book is the MC being responsible and proving he could own a dog and facing challenges independently as they grow up
That book fucked me up so hard in second grade. I read all of them and every other book in the "dog story" genre lol. It's about love and duty and loyalty to someone weaker than you that needs you but also supports you. It's really about every kind of relationship that matters and isn't selfish.
I really love that this silly trend is getting people to talk about literary tropes in a way that revolves around emotions and growth as opposed to porn. It's so nostalgic and refreshing.
I think what's going to happen is he's going to eventually fumble the ball by turning it into politishit, since he does genuinely believe in this crap that it's specifically for chuds. Which would actually ruin the romance angle a bit and basically prove he's no better than the people that he hates when it comes to proselytizing bullshit.
I've been enjoying reading it but he's putting more and more politishit into it with each chapter, I do unfortunately see it probably going down that path, which a lot of other AU fanfics go where it just becomes nonsensical and loses the plot entirely.

I genuinely wish that I could message him again and tell him that I enjoy his writing and I'm not shitting on his AI use or anything (I use it myself for personal stuff) but he needs a human editor/beta reader who will not only catch those unforced errors produced by AI but wrangle him out of politispergery and keep it focused on the romance. Malfoy needs to shift her perspective to be more accepting of "mudbloods" before Harry even considers dating her and that should also not change. Harry becoming like Malfoy and sneering at "mudbloods" like her would be the worst ending.

It would also make more sense for a racist tsundere to just soften overall as her feelings grow and she learns to accept them. Even if this Harry were more reactive and emotional because he was working through the issues from his upbringing, becoming racist wouldn't make sense.
If I were writing it I would lean into exploring Malfoid's overt (and perhaps casual and inadvertent) racism and how that would affect Harry, with already lessened self esteem. It would set everything up for a really good slow burn/one sided yearning relationship/unrequited love kind of thing and allow you to show the growth of both characters.
If you had to address the racist angle at all, which imo is unnecessary.
