It's basically the unholy combination of Bowsette and Amelia, with the former's "enemies have more chemistry than the shitty canon love interest" and the politics (and Britishness) of the latter. With the added tsundere personality to make it even more irresistible to people way too much into anime.

I fucking love it.

Main issue is that it's absolutely disconnected from the Britishness and very unromantic tone of HP that, while did have romance sideplots, they weren't the focus. And ended with the narrative equivalent of the main protagonist picking up a girl at the pub afterwards rather than any established other girl.

Maybe because I’m a million years old I never thought Harry Potter could be tied to sexuality to any degree.

Unlike the Goonies and gender swapping Sloth. Be like “let’s find treasure. One hint, it might be in your large deformed ass?”

I don't know what you kids are doing, but that can't stop my from shaking my first at it. Rotten little assholes!

So, one of the most popular fanfics on AO3 about this phenomenon appears to be Harry Potter and the Girl Who Noticed Him. The author is moving at a breakneck pace and seems to have captured JK Rowling's voice pretty well. A scan of his Xitter (foreshadowing is a literary device) indicates that he is most likely a Brit on the cusp of zoomer/millennial so likely grew up with Joanne's stuff. Anyway, that's a lot of comments.

I gave the fic a read, it's solid. There have been a few references to Hellfire McGonagall that reference Kosovo and other stuff of that ilk that tickle me as an autist. But more importantly in the first book he didn't shy away from making references to less-modern-day-appropriate language making it feel more befitting of the 90s, use of words like 'retard' and 'pikey' in the context of Dudley bullying Harry and the gentleman who sold Hagrid the dragon egg, respectively. But there was one line in particular in book two that caught my eye, a blatant Ngubu reference:

He also recently started a Patreon that links to that Xitter. Now that's well and good, I am not giving a man money to write fanfic, but spurred on by some interesting comments, I checked out his posts.

From what I can tell, the third or fourth most popular Malfoid fanfic on AO3, the most actively updated one, is written by a white nationalist who posts regularly about feeling the hand of God while he writes it. It's a solid read, well done, schizo chud writer who almost certainly lurks the Farms.

Moids taking over the femcel gooning website is super funny to me.

Thing is, it's strange that romance wasn't a focus when "power of love/friendship" was such a big component in defeating the evil wizard.

I do agree with Malfoid fans when they say the fanart of her and Harry holding the wand and blasting Voldemort with it is a much better scene than anything Rowling had cooked up.

Also, they're right in other ways, like the fact she would have earned herself a few more billion dollars if she had introduced the Western normie audience to the concept of the noble ojou-sama tsundere.

That's a bit of a stretch. iirc ao3 was created because fanfiction.net started banning smut and other advertiser unfriendly stuff wholesale, so both sexes' gooners moved there. I'd argue that there are more men on ao3 purely because smut for women is a part of mainstream, so they don't need to congregate on fanfic sites as much. Any random woman can go to barnes & noble and pick from 6 million proudly displayed raped-by-a-billionaire-hunk smut.
