I honestly like it. At first I was a little confused by how it worked, because the wording is a little unclear, but I’m not against it. It has potential for a fun mechanic that could possibly even return, and also has design room for the future.

In all honesty, I am actually really hopefully for EOE, and this mechanic does seem pretty fun. I’ve always liked Evoke.

This is cope, but I am willing to bet they’re gonna have more eldrazi, just devoid, or as tokens, or more of a background presence…. Right? RIGHT? :(
 
So tomorrow is the once-a-year for-real-you-gotta-believe-us ban window for standard, what cards do you think they actually ban?

I'm high on Cori and Monstrous Rage, medium on Omniscience, and Beanstalk, low on Heartfire Hero, anyone who thinks they ban Abuelo's Awakening or Vivi the New Chase Mythic are high.

I'd like to see them ban Fear of Isolation and/or This Town Ain't Big Enough but I doubt they will

Rage, Beanstalk, Abuelo and Nightmare and Preachers should all be rotating and rotated already.

Cori...is super strong with any sort of cantrips and "unbeatable with cantrips" is not standard appropriate because there are always cantrips. (yeah Vivi is gonna have to go eventually too, Sorry Lil Dude..I love ya but you shouldn't be in standard)

See, the problem with Abelo is that maybe you ban it because it's good but it's not the pay off and the next time someone figures out how to reliably cheat Omniscience into play anytime in the next 5 years it will still be a problem. Omniscience existing really shits on their ability to put any enchantment reanimation/cheating, wish cards, tutors, or deep card selection cards in the format.

I accept that argument, and I think Enchantment Reanimation that is aggressively costed is pretty rare in general.

It seems to be something they've been interested in pushing, Invoke Justice from Neon Dynasty also saw a decent amount of play considering it basically requires you to play almost all white producing lands.

Most of them are 5 mana, which helps them not break, and reanimate stuff does fold to graveyard hate.

I would be okay with the older card going away and banning omni if it becomes a problem. (And honestly omni is pretty inconsistent as is )

It's the wrong card, Omniscience will be a really good deck as soon as someone squares the circle of how to get it into play turn 4 again, but Abelo if it's grabbing basically anything less than omniscience power level is a junk rare.

Also it's winrate is overblown because anyone who was preboarded deal with Cori decks lost to omniscience and vice versa. If you slowed the game back down to a turn 5-6 format instead of a turn 3-4 it would take a shit and die just due to better interaction with instant/sorcery/graveyard decks

I have similar thoughts as Yuna can also already reanimate it.
I wonder if it at the moment they don't have any other enchantment reanimation in the pipeline plus the combination of slowing down the format and opening more room for sideboarding means they think it will be fine at the moment.

Kicking the card that should be rotating is sensible even if there is a non zero chance of Omni breaking again.

However we have Ghost Vac, Leyline of the Void, Rest in peace and the Raccoon Scavenging ooze

Sure Omni was a huge % of the pro tour, but despite having the best card against the mono red and izzet stuff it still underperformed.
