Welp, no more Efreets...

Muh nigga Serendib Efreet didndu nuffin, except have a green border with the art for Ifh-Bíff Efreet in Revised. Why they do this to him?
Just goes to show you, they think all Efreets look the same confusing Serendib and Ifh-Biff like that. Bunch of honky ass racists, no wonder they call them selves Wizards with their pointy hoods and shieeet.

Naga should have been snakes in the first place, having ultra narrow creature types is fucking stupid.
I just find it funny because when people pointed this out during Khans era they were called racist by Wizards because Naga were important to different cultures and simply referring to them as snakes was insulting to non white cultures. Now that enough time has passed the Grand Wizards of the Coast said fuck the squinties and their mythical beasts.

I don't care if it is outright completely racist.

If you make Naga Snakes, then that means that Naga Support will affect Snakes and viceversa, which is objectively better for the game, Having Seshiro the Anointed affect all the Naga in Khans (who were a Sultai Wedge focus so he could go in the deck) and having Seshiro being capable using the couple of Mono-Green Naga from the set gives him more options. (looking at the list of Green Naga, I only see a couple but Sultai Flayer would probably be better than something that it runs right now)

Can anyone recommend Magic blogs/youtubers/etc who talk about the upcoming sets from the POV of what cards will be fun/interesting? I am not that deep into Magic and not a competitive person and so when the articles are all "THIS WILL CHANGE THE META IN THE BLUE BLAH BLAH CONTROL DECK" it's meaningless to me, in my very casual playgroups. I just want to know what might be a cool fun card or good products to buy for value.

I agree. In fact why do we even have humans? Them, apes, and monkeys should all just be combined into the "primate" creature tribal.
Then we'd need to get into speculative biology, which we know your average Wizards diversity hire isn't nerdy enough to do. Is an elf a primate? Lorwyn elves have horns and hooves, what about them? What about a gnome? All our gnomes are artifact creatures outside of crossover sets, do they still count?

First they came for the Naga, now for the Efreets.
Well, Efreet are genasi of fire, and what we usually refer to as jinn is a genasi of air. So, the two are quite close. And some unification of creature types can be a good thing.

Try DesolatorMagic. He does short episodes on some obscure cards from time to time. Also he's funny. Just don't take his advice very seriously. He's more for entertainment purposes.

People disagree with you, but there's a similar point I want to make. Majority of zombies must be also human. When an elf is a zombie, they usually write it.

Shut up Artifact Creature before I shove a Null Rod into your exhaust pipe.
Buy me dinner first if you're going anywhere near my shiny metal ass.

Yep. Like goblin zombie.

or how weird is it that creatures are "human Werewolf" on one side but then just "werewolf" on the other?

It's all too confusing. We should just end racism! Only list creatures by their jobs! It's the only way to be sure.

(Or we can really get autistic, why is "insect" one type but all the mammals separated out? Let's just make it "animal" vs "person." Or "furry" vs "normie".)

Aspiringspike did a card by card breakdown over the entire set and I think he's at least mildly entertaining at it (although he's prone to words words words sometimes and his opinions are basically modern only)
MagicAids hasn't done a breakdown but he has done a few videos about existing cards that got printed into modern and the decks they fit in. He's an acquired taste (he makes 4chan coomer jokes constantly and sounds like Squidward on cocaine)
MTGGoldfish has done breakdowns over the rares/mythics and some uncommons and SaffronOlive is mostly fine although he's sort of a soylord consooomer sometimes

Haven't seen any breakdowns for cards from a commander/legacy/vintage perspective but most of those people are completely intolerable instead of just meh

Anyone else got any prognostications based on the MH3 list? I'll go on the record as saying there is definitely an at least Tier 2 red-based energy deck out there, the 2drop raptor is cracked and the energy bolt and red energy 2drop artifact are definitely going to do something somewhere.

One I won't be surprised to be wrong on: I think most of the flare cycle other than the green one for Primetime is DOA and will be either 1 ofs or sideboard cards.

I think temur energy is going to make a comeback, there’s now three 1-cmc spells that make energy and do an effect, and built properly I could see aetherworks marvel being playable in modern.

Eldrazi tron is also going to be a top tier deck again, boggles and infect are going to jump up a tier, oops all spells will take a turn in the limelight until charbelcher is banned.

Fury will be unbanned after scam is abandoned by players eager to test new decks, and scam will immediatly become 51% of the modern meta again.

The grist flipwalker will see the most play, and will be banned. Ral will see fringe play in storm but won’t be good enough.

An assumed bulk rare will break legacy for 6 months with a follow up ban of support cards that won’t solve the problem and finally the card will be banned. Vintage will only care about vexing bauble.

Edit: I think Urza’s saga may be restricted in vintage because of bauble. I forgot about it until I already hit post lol.

Which reminds me, I won't prognosticate about it too hard because it requires a whole new archetype but I feel like Nadu, Winged Wisdom is absolutely cracked and I am going to be disappointed if it actually just shits the bed and dies in 60 card formats.

I also think Charbelcher gets Yeeted from Legacy too.

People have already identified it as a combo with shuko and the new enchantment creature to potentially go infinite and thoracle. It’s legacy breakfast brought to modern.

Naga please, I'm just laughing at their hypocrisy and virtue signaling.

Try DesolatorMagic.
I watch him once in a while but damn is he a whiney bitch.
