I had to look up some of this shit since I'm way out of touch. With Initiative, is it every turn you have it you go deeper into that Undercity map thing, or you have to continuously play cards that have the effect to move one spot each time? And when someone steals Initiative, do they continue from the same spot the last person was in, or do they start over?

Looking up newer stuff, some of this shit seems so convoluted compared to when I played. And it looks like a lot of old staples are still pretty expensive.
Initiative triggers every upkeep after you’ve entered the under city and when you take the initiative from someone, either via a card that says you do that or by doing combat damage to the current holder. You each have your own initiative map that you move through, and your progress is independent of each other. So if someone takes the initiative, they start out in the first spot and move through as they want. The undercity also starts over when you finish it.

Lots of new magic has gotten more and more retarded as the design team has gotten more and more retarded.

I also recommend cards from Khans of Tarkir in the sultai wedge, like Sidisi and sultai ascendancy, and maybe some of the delve spells.

Logistical Nightmare answered for me and yeah it can be something of a chore to track (I actually have a giant cards for it because I am a good person and provide for people when i bring in annoying mechanics) but the extra incentive of someone swinging at an opponent to take the Initiative can turn a game you will probably lose to one you can win.

I think people vastly under-rate little bits of Chip Damage in Commander, I've taken a Swan Song bird token and just chipped into it with a couple of times with a Sword of the Animist Equipped..and then threw on a Blackblade Reforged and suddenly they had to use a Go for the Thorat on a Token because they couldn't take a hit from a 16/16 bird.

Edit : This is doubly true if you are doing the Radiation thing. "Oh I have 4 Radiation..and 4 life" is a thing that will very suddenly happen to people if they don't pay attention.

I literally just watched a video about this topic Which is deceptively named but hits on this point in a way that I hadn’t thought about in a while with how much the meta is about playing the most powerful cards, not about playing cards in a meaningful way.

As a mill player i want to remind you all that we dont mill you to deck you out, we mill you so you can find lands quicker by filtering the deck.

About 300 dollars later, got a bunch of upgrades coming for my Mothman deck. Rad seems cool, but slow, at least in EDH. Decided to go more towards mill and proliferate. Didn't realize lands were gonna be so expensive, and I didn't even get into the fetch lands. But at least they can be used in any decks that run those colours.

Was nice having my first games in a decade. Had to relearn a lot of the steps and needed a ton of keyword skills explained to me, but swinging in with a 17/17 mothman was fun. Still lost when my friend popped off some infinite draw loop with some enchantment that has you win if you draw your last card.

I know it's a bit of cancer from TCC, but I do love just this captured reaction to FUCKING STICKERS!

When even the cheerleaders say, "this sucks" you know you goofed.

Welcome to the realization everyone makes when they power up their first deck, outside of a few chase rares..90% of the games cost is fucking Lands.

Agree and do you think if they reprinted the lands in a consistent manner, the price would drop or it wouldnt change anything? Since damm paying like 30 for a single land is bonkers, which is why outside of boros and naya my land bases are mostly basics and tapped duals or the occasional check land

It would take a few printings..and they would have to put Lands in the Uncommon Slot instead of Rare. They will never do that though. I am curious if they could just sell Holiday Gift Packs..that are just 20 Good lands for like 50 bucks and make a profit.

WotC is deathly afraid no one will buy their standard packs if they don't shove chase rare lands in them. And they probably should be considering how stark the difference in power levels are in the packs where like 80% of the rare slots are taken up by draft bulk rares and commander rares all of which are unplayable in constructed. Imagine how appealing Manor would be without the lands, only thing that sees play outside standard is the Pioneer vampire, the equipment with nu-manifest, the green charm, Leyline for mono-green and Draco decks and a few uncommons and commons in specific pioneer decks.

Those aren't cheerleaders, they're pushers of "diversity" and are only on the offensive because they think there's clout. Sullivan spares no chance to whine about the race wars WotC encourages in its past regardless of how retarded of a stretch he has to make, the guy is literal corporate cancer.

I don't think that excludes them being cheerleaders but I like "pushers" as a term so I'll go with that. (Wasn't 100% happy with what I came up with.)

Also did not know that about Sullivan. Thanks for the info.

I just started gathering all the sticker cards I opened from the unfinity boxes I opened just so I can add a sticker deck to my side board to fuck with my friends. Attractions have already worked their way into my deck plans, and I’m very excited to make people think I’m going to sticker cards up left and right. As a side note, holy shit Mr. House is way more fun Imo with an attraction plan stapled on to the D20 plan.

Sullivan does a good enough job to mask it, but he's very much a smug lefty that likes to smell his own farts. Cedrick seems ok, but he's probably easily influenced by the people around him. Brian is well, a failed community college creative writing teacher.

I like how irregardless of the diversity push. The folks at the wizards story department know to put straight white people at the center of the narrative if times are fucked economically. Kellen looks like he's on his way, taking down dragon warlords then chilling with homemade pie his trad vampire gf made him at his ranch. Dudes building up a haram with thunder girl as well.

Vraska and Jace are back btw.

Somehow they returned, and nobody cares because they fucked up that Romance in WAR

Kellen looks like he's on his way,
Surprised Kellen isn't a Faggot, but also Surprised his Dad isn't a Faggot.
