I wasn’t saying it isn’t, I was more bemoaning that the set that is on par with if not worse than MKM will sell 3x the product because it’s the yehaw rootin tootin magic set. Also because we have to be subjected to wizard’s most obvious faggot bait again, even if he doesn’t break every format again.

I dont think it is gonna get carried by the theme,i dont think any modern day set is gonna get carried by theme unless it is universes beyond.
 
They couldn't even do a western set right. Oko is set as the lead of the set, and cowboy hat or now, his character screams broke back mountain instead of wild west. I've watched a lot of old westerns, and cowboy hats and a heist do not make something western. Let alone the fascinating history of western expansion which happened in the same country your company was founded and based in. Seriously, what the fuck?

They've already failed on this end by giving the gunslingers of blood gulch halo energy swords instead of guns. I think this set will sell as bad as murders if only because they failed at the theming out of the gate.

I think this is definitely an issue that shows that WOTC are cowards, but I really think that people are going to treat this set like they did Ahmonket. Egypt.mtg didn't seem to go over well at launch, but people were really there for the flavor. I think that for sets that are aiming to do a theme but in the magic world, players as a whole who are new converts or soy consumers will give the set a free pass. Players like us that are fed up with the stupid DEI bullshit will be more willing to buy into UB because its stuff from a franchise we already care about, but to your normie player? Western set with a hot cowboy man??? gibe me 20 boxes.

The ammo is glowing in this piece of art so maybe it uses ammo to activate.

The story segment that all this art was attached to also revealed that the planes now have full blown trade between each other.

No, but Dominaria has united against 2 Multi Planar Invasions, and Also United against the Thran when Yawgmoth did his bullshit. If an Interplanar war is gonna start up is like Ixalan gonna suddenly unite and start Invading Kaldheim? Why the fuck would they do that..it made sense in the Phyrexian Invasion because GIANT FUCKING EVIL HOLES SPILLING MONSTERS were in the sky. It made sense because Phyrexia went on the Offensive. Unless Niv Mizzet decides that Ravnica should rule everything there is no force in the multiverse that is gonna really be capable of a real invasion.

Anyone who tries to fuck with Dominaria and Ravnica are actual retards (just like Elesh Norn Was)

I feel like nuWOTC would push WakandaZhalfir in that kind of war so hard.

If there'll be a war of the planes it'll be Ravinca vs Dominaria otherwise it'll be onesided.

This might end up being an actual fight..but Dominaria has at least one Advantage in that 2/5 Primevals have come back again and Darigaaz-3 is taking a far more proactive stance in the Primevals not being evil so Dominaria might have 5 Dragons that make Niv-Mizzet look like a fucking pussy in their pocket.

I am being a bit of a dick with this, I honestly don't understand how the Dominaria stuff post those very old cycles went. What stuff have they actually been involved with since then in terms of interplanar events?

From what I recall it was a largely generic fantasy world, while they were impressive it was not exactly focused to the degree Ravinica's guilds are. As was demonstrated by the destruction of the plague attacks they were not specialised enough to mitigate specialised attacks until after heavy losses, the planetary defence systems like primordial dragons are less a protection and more a reset button and while full blown planar merge is bullshit it's the closest we got to seeing a fully militarised plane going against them and it was the Apocalypse. They were in loss scenario to the degree that old school planeswalkers recognised survival for small chunks of the plane meant extreme ass pulls, even if Urza's multi generational plan eventually worked.

Or is it the plane's ability to focus that saves them? Because if so a large part of their ability to unify before the Invasion was Urza's chosen fulfilling their roles while his ass sauntered around pretending to be Shinsei from L5R.

This is largely curiosity, I don't know enough about post Apocalypse Dominaria's standing against planer threats to be overly sure.

They threw off a Second Phyrexian Invasion Lead by Sheoldred...and won their front of the March of the Machines.

And there are a large amount of people with high political power that were around during Urza's time around still

Karn, Teferi, Jhioria, as well as Jodah who is probably old and skilled enough to be on par with weaker Old Walkers.

They were in loss scenario to the degree that old school planeswalkers recognised survival for small chunks of the plane meant extreme ass pulls, even if Urza's multi generational plan eventually worked.

This was purely because of Yawgmoth, The Phyrexians were completely defeated until he took a direct hand and started using Necromancy to reanimate fucking dirt because worms eat people and poop dirt so dirt is former living people.

Edit : And for the Records, Post Karona Dominaria was so chill that Bezlenok was "The big threat" of Return to Dominaria, and Bezlenok got megacucked by Gideon.
 
I mean if they were honest about it, Dominaria should be the center point of the multiverse around which all other planes resolve. So like... taking it out would be like kicking out the foundation of a building.
