Well, I came across a pretty solid explanation this morning that quite nicely fills in all the gaps with this set that I've been struggling with.
That... actually makes a whole lot of sense and I believe you are onto something.

It is tempting to pick up a Warhammer 40k deck just for the chance someday to scream, "black aragorn? That's heresy!"

Wait a minute....

That card is getting reprinted in MKM's commander decks...

AND THEY DIDN'T UPDATE HIS TYPE TO DETECTIVE???? He literally has Detective in his name!!
The weirdest thing about MKM is that it's Ravnica, not Capenna which is far better for a detective noir type of setting. Guess the set flopped too hard for them to go back to it.

Either that or they're afraid that putting cops and detectives on the mob plane would cause their audience to hate them more.

So - what happened in 2020? Ohhhh, they had a late-in-design change that came up... because of Floyd. In order to do their part to imagine a brighter future, Wizards cut all of the police (who looked like noir detectives, in fitting with the set) from New Capenna, and made absolutely everyone into criminals -- which was itself a majorly confusing element of that setting, as without law enforcement, why are there "demon lawyers?" Why were there cards that talked about being sprung from jail, if there's no jailers?
Seeing this makes me realize why I was so bleh on the setting. I'm surprised we haven't gotten a Secret Lair: Saint Floyd.

Yeah @Rich Evans Ayypologist and I were literally discussing that a few posts up. I even quoted MaRo's podcast on it.

Umm...
That was in 2021.

That’s Duskmourn, which still doesn’t have a release date for, but WOTC is saying end of Q3, so I’m guessing mid-October.
Plane sized city is weird enough but somewhat workable.

They are really doing plane sized house?

Not the dumbest thing in terms of Planar Mechanics.

The Plane Battlebond was set in "Shrunk" planeswalkers automatically because everything was tiny.
Apparently Phyrexia was the size of a small country in terms off Mass because Zhalfir replacing it.

Honestly This plane's existence is kind of explainable by "Oh this was an artificial plane made by an Old walker..they weren't very sensible"

Duskmourn and Bloomburrow are the only sets I care about this year. I'm probably gonna skip Outlaws of Ram Ranch altogether, and I don't even know what WotC was thinking when they put Lizzo on the key art for MH3.

OK yeah. If they explain that it was some lost artifact of the ancient PW times. Or even just said it was Bolas' summer cottage.... that could work.

I just don'thave faith they'll be that creative.

>doesn’t contain snuff out
>doesn’t contain arrest

Is it really a Floyd secret lair with out either of those?
Touche good sir. ;)

"Fuck your logic, I have magic," was an entirely reasonable attitude for a lot of the old walkers to have. Shame some of the ones that did the coolest shit with were the ones that died.

That said I could see a plane sized manor being the sort of thing Guff made when trying to perfect his library.

Might be late on this, but who the fuck is this? It's certainly not Teysa.
