I've heard Hasbro is planning to sell D&D. Are they selling the whole WotC, or just D&D?
Just D&D from the rumors. If they were selling Magic they'd just spin off WotC. The reason they're dumping D&D if they are is that it's being dumped by everyone but Amazon and Amazon will carve their pound of flesh from you in the most painful way possible, Magic still sells.

Might be late on this, but who the fuck is this? It's certainly not Teysa.

The copy of the card Circular Logic found in the “Deceptive Divination” drop was inadvertently printed as a sorcery, though we assure you, you can still cast it as an instant and the oracle text rules remain accurate. The error is found in both foil and non-foil versions. As a token of our embarrassment, please enjoy a $5 discount on this drop.

Who the fuck is doing these that they think a card that counters spells is a Sorcery... Fucking diversity hires.

Man i just... really loathe all these "special art" cards. It's bad enough all the books on cardboard we got nowadays, now let's take something that's actually one or two sentences and deliberately obscure and make you hunt for it to try and read what it does.

"Oh man, oh shit, this is such a sweet misprint. I should tell all my friends about it and brag about how I got one of these, shits dope, I hope someone calls a judge on me when I play this, I'll be euphoric when I can Acshowally! them and watch their face as they realize what masterful comedy of hilarity I pulled on them, they'll surely put me into a hall of fame of trolling when this happens in the top 8 of a pro-tour for me." - Nerd Crew.

It is so sad to see what MtG has become, it was my original fear years back when MaRo talked about "possibilities of IPs" and that was my oh shit moment. The fact they have done so quickly is the most saddening part though. From that podcast earlier too, MaRo has no fucking idea how to even talk let alone design a plane. Come the fuck on a plane where it is a house and everyone partakes in murder mysteries. That sounds absolutely fucking retarded. As a set alone it sounds limited creativity-wise without reoccurring multiple cards.

As for Ravinca, they are not being honest to their player base Return is the best-selling MtG set in history, it signalled a golden age, and playing MtG especially where I was popped off. They want to return there as much as possible because it ignites those memberberries. As for DandD selling, it does not surprise me, it's an IP that is limitless and SJWs have no ounce of creativity. They are obsessed with making fantasy like the real world whilst not understanding THE ENTIRE FUCKING POINT OF FANTASY.

Hasbro keeps making loss after loss and I assume they will go on a selling spree of IPs like D and D, MLP, and Transformers to try and get profit but it does not address the issue of longterm. There is this infinite cope that MTG is doing really well and the fact is it's not anymore.

This isn't true, and hasn't been true for multiple years at this point. RTR is at best the third best selling MTG set, and it's likely that it's further down than that.

Also, if Wizards wants to ignite the memberberries from Ravnica they'd just make a real Ravnica set (which they just did sorta) and they'd be a lot less subtle about it. Think about the sets that are just supposed to be memberberries sets from the last couple years. BRO had the retro artifacts with the old border. Ravnica Remastered had old border treatments for a lot of things despite Ravnica never using the old border. I don't think there's any real reason to believe Wizards is lying about Ravnica being the best fit among planes they have for this sort of murder mystery set. Do they want to go to Ravnica as much as possible? Of course. But if the only reason to go to Ravnica was a cynical cash in on the Ravnica name, why would they take the risk of changing things about their most popular plane in order to make it better fit this whole murder mystery idea?

I don't see any evidence for this assertion that MTG isn't doing well. Hasbro is in the shitter, but that's a totally different story than MTG and Wizards being in the shitter. I also don't see Hasbro selling D&D (which Wizards has said there are no plans to do). D&D has something that Magic has struggled with for years, which is a very strong foothold into the mainstream. D&D is the TTRPG that everyone thinks of, and no OGL fiasco or mid movie is going to change that.

I've heard Hasbro is planning to sell D&D. Are they selling the whole WotC, or just D&D?
Wizards has said that there are no plans to sell D&D, and Hasbro ceases being a functional company if they sell Wizards of the Coast. That probably sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not. Wizards is like a full quarter of Hasbro's total revenue, and like 80% of its profits. It is actually nuts.

we really have to wait and see. reason why dnd is as big as it is comes in a large part from stuff like critical role etc - which are all moving away from dnd or plan to. then you get all the thirdparty stuff you need (unless you want to do shit yourself, which most dnd casuals won't) which also went down. in wotc's own words dnd is "under-monetized", and any stunt to increase that will inevitably piss people off, the OGL shit last year was only part of that.

dnd will probably always be the biggest fish in the pond - or at least for a long time due to inertia - but that doesn't mean much if the pond itself gets smaller.

I mean this was literally in a set in 2022...

VS how the original cops of Ravnica looked.

The claim "ravnica" fit it best is just so obviously lies. There were no long coats and wide-brimmed hats on the plane before this.

They even set up in the set before the perfect murder victim.

I will say that MKM limited is better than I thought it would be. Collect Evidence fucking sucks balls, but everyone knew it would. But Morph 3.0 works out as a mechanic well enough, and there's enough interplay with the hybrid-cost cards that it's pretty involved. You have to both remember the khans rule (anything with morph < 5cmc has 2 toughness or less), but also all of the possible face-down hybrids, which for a given color pair is quite a lot - like, a GR deck can flip up the GR, GW, GB, GU, UR, WR, BR cards.

The removal being better is generally a solid, and even mega-bombs like Rakdos don't feel that oppressive. Aurelia's Vindicator is a messed-up card, though.
The flavor and EV of the set suck, though. It's not a huge surprise that it's tanking pretty damn hard.

Boros were more of a pmc than anything to do with investigation. Azorius investigate, prosecute and use their gay law magic, and Boros fuck shit up in an organized manner.
Originally Azorius were the lawyers, Boros were the cops. It was in RTR that they started having Azorius perform some arresting functions but even then...

Still no wide-brimmed hats or long trench coats to be found. (ok they did have like 3 armored guys originally)

Meanwhile on New Capenna...

I mean seriously. If you knew NOTHING about this set and just saw these cards, which plane would YOU guess they belonged to just on the samples shown above?

I'm not saying the conspiracy folks are right, just that I completely understand why the "slush art" theory exists.
