Not that I can think of: She stopped getting work for a few blocks starting around ~Scourge because WotC felt her art didn't follow their style guide for the plane, got brought back for Lorwyn block, then was let go permanently after Magic 2010 for unspecified reasons (most likely her art style since Mirrodin was the first block to not feature her and Scars was coming up). If she did phone it in I don't blame her: she's a good artist, WotC let her go twice, and nu-Magic art is just plain bad - sterile, soulless, and it's not even clear what the artist is trying to convey sometimes. If I were in her situation I'd consider a request from WotC to come back for one promo card a slap in the face.

The artist who got fired for wrongthink was Terese Nielsen; she was let go in 2019 over her apparent support for QAnon and TERFs.

Edit to add: Nu-magic art being so terrible is a good argument in favor of not bringing Rebecca Guay back - the contrast between her work and everyone else's would be jarring, even to people who don't care that much about that stuff.

Another possibility is that WotC offered her peanuts. Like, literally a bag of them. And that was the best she was willing to do, considering she's in fine arts now.

She did come back in 2018-2019 when they started doing the promo packs specifically to do a series of lands that were exclusively promos. My assumption is that WOTC has changed how much they OT their artists, and she knows how much she’s worth. I will say that the secret lair isn’t the worst one they’ve put out, but even as a fan of her art I won’t be getting it.

I still find it hilarious that WOTC cut ties with the most well known alphabet artist they had on call because she was too based for their taste. I specifically trade people for cards she’s done art for bc I know they’re usually going to have a preferable look to any reprints that might be coming down the pipe, so now I have 500 copies of the female version Elvish Ranger from alliances that I don’t know what to do with 🤔

I like the blood moon hate from this expansion at least. Urn of godfire and Wrenn and "eight" are fucking nice. New wrenn is like a mix of tamiyo and nissa, all at a 3CMC

Also godfire helps edge off my deck so eventually it'll destroy things. Eventually. The new sword looked nice too, but I like truth and justice more still.

Still PISSED there's no vault skirge analogue though, also the plot is shit. Cuz of course.

The Midrange meta will continue until revenue streams improve...
 
Funny part of people's reaction to this is that WotC should ban Fable, Invoke, and and that 3/2 vampire that shits out a blood token (for some reason, purely based on usage I assume)

Meanwhile, fucking mono white and esper legends are also tier 1 and making grixis/rakdos midrange/reanimator decks much more inconsistent is a pretty stupid proposition.

Some tard faked a banlist leak that got standard fags in a tizzy

Standard:
Wedding Announcement is banned.
The Wandering Emperor is banned.
Invoke Despair is banned.
Fable of the Mirror-Breaker is banned.
Raffine, Scheming Seer is banned.
Atraxa, Grand Unifier is banned.
Reckoner Bankbuster is banned.

So some of these were reasonable enough (Fable doing everything for 3 mana) or reasonable but retarded (banning bankbuster for being the only good card that actually nets you cards without being a massive build around in standard other then Wedding Announcement and Invoke Despair when you are already winning). Many are just retarded (Atraxa for being a huge build around that actually does something, or Raffine which only makes sense in the context that they had to ban something out of Esper Legends other then just a land and the ban announcement for some dumb reason missed Sheoldred and they are cancer together)

Fakefag later went on to shitpost that it was a social experiment to try to convince WotC to ban everything.

Clearly OP was an aggrofag because not a single one of those cards is an aggro card so his standard would just be Mono Red Burn vs. Mono White Soldier/Aggro vs. Azorious Soldiers vs. Selesnaya Toxic

Unrelated but I've been having fun playing 5c Domain Ramp in standard where you try to play enough lands to fairly shit out Atraxa or Etali on turn 5 like god intended. It's greatest virtue is being not entirely shit against mono red which is rare for a ramp deck and necessary because 15-20% of fags on arena are playing it in Bo1 at any given time.

So I'm sure this was posted about before but I'm bringing it up again because wizards is officially unvieling the whole set in a couple days and they are hiding all the 'racist' replies on twitter. The Professor from the tolarian community college also chimes in to own the racists. So if you dislike what wizards of the coast is doing to stir up drama for attention and profit, you are a racist and a bigot.
