Compared to Mafia III, The Old Country appears to know what kind of game it wants to be in conjunction of what Mafia is known for. If Mafia III cut the stronghold encounters in half and added more varied missions, it'd be a better game for it. The boss encounters are the best I've seen in gaming yet.

So is The old Country good? When I replayed it/gave it a second chance I liked Mafia II (and when I replayed Mafia III I found it was way more woke than I remembered).

Wait for a sale.

Anyway, Mafia II is the beloved game of the series. But, like Mafia III, it had development issues from 2K. Cut content, cut story thread, streamlined gameplay for consoles. I'd imagine it would've been something more if they had more time.

the fist fights in mafia 2 suck

this song is the best in the game

that is all

Alex Hernandez, the voice/mocap actor of Lincoln Clay and Jacob Diaz from Mafia III and MindsEye respectively, believes that he is a "shit-brown touch" for video games based on his recent works from said games.

"I'm not a superstitious man, but I can’t help but have some kind of Spidey Sense, like, 'Is it just me?'" Hernandez said. "Do I have like the opposite of the golden touch, like the s***-brown touch, everything I touch turns to poop?"

I feel bad for him; it's not his fault that those games had less than stellar reception. I actually believe his work from Mafia III was great. He brought Lincoln Clay to life. Mindseye, his acting was fine for what he was given for scriptwriting and direction.

The actors themselves don't make the games that are shipped out.

I'm going to be real here. The only way anyone doesn't know how every game in this series goes is if they've never seen a movie read a book or played a videogame once in their life. They're THAT unoriginal and lazily written. This entire series is by the numbers cliche no effort crap writing with a pointless open world with nothing to do in it and ridiculous over the top action segments that feel like they were initially made for a COD game. If Rockstar did a GTA set in 1920s chicago or 1950s New York THAT would be fucking awesome, the "Mafia" series though? Complete ass.

I just bought the trilogy off the PS store for $12 and change. I've never really played these types of games before (I'm more of a sports/fighting game player), so I suspect the going will be rough, lol

Play the original on the PC, it is a completely different game than the remaster. If you don't mind it being slower paced and more realistic, it's a much better game too.

What the hell are they talking about, Old Country is the most by the numbers linear experience I have seen recently. There is no replayability here. Did they "finish" the game and are advertising it now to get some pity buyers at the last minute? This ain't no Cyberpunk, it won't work twice. Finish your game before you release it next time, make sure it's not shit too, while we're at it.

Playing the original on PC isn't really an option for me.

My adult kids came by to visit yesterday, and my youngest son is great at these kind of games. He wanted to try Mafia 2 and easily cleared the first several missions, whereas I had previously struggled to get past the first one, lol. I'm sure I'll get better with practice. He then proceeded to stomp the dog shit out of me in Street Fighter 6, lol.

I haven't got too involved with Mafia 3 yet, but watching over a synopsis of the story on you tube, it doesn't seem as bad as I've been reading. The main character is Italian/Dominican (but yeah, for the game's purposes, he might as well be black), and it seems you're mostly working with white folk, among them Vito from Mafia 2. When I get to it, I plan on shafting the Hatian girlboss, then wipe her out when she gets uppity, lol. I'm gonna aim for the Vito ending.
