I think this is a good idea. You're not going to install a new distro just boot into a live usb and see if the audio is still fucked. It will help you determine if it's a hardware issue or a software / configuration issue.

Hell, you could even just pass it through to a VM with different OSes to test with super easy because the scarlett is USB. If you passed it through to a windows VM and it works that would basically prove it's not a hardware or power draw issue.

Win7 was the height of windows, XP second, though to some that’s debatable. At the least, an upgraded freeware version of windows 7 (I don’t care for the popular term, upcycling) needs to hit the streets, sooner than later what with windows jail (11) or that company will see bigger decline within ten years. Not that I care much about Microsoft. As for using windows, it didn’t get better after 7, some say 10 but that was when it had that mandatory spyware onboarded without the user having to de-install the bloat. I keep hearing about the illusive windows 7 clone floss “upcycle” but never see results. Almost want to start something like it myself, but only sometimes.

I use Win 10 and if works fine. I know nothing about Win 11 and will only upgrade if I absolutely have to. Especially since my system has tons of tweaks and I'm afraid some of them will stop working.
