As a true, blue, Stew believer I must speak up regarding the Jim Stewartson segment. Mike Flynn sued Jim and the guy who founded the Lincoln Project for defamation in Florida. Lincoln Project guy got off scot-free as Flynn's claims didn't make it past the SLAP stuff. The claims against Jim were mostly struck down save for 4 statements from Jim.

As for the thing Null was talking about on Jim's twitter, Jim did not pull that down. That was a pinned tweet and he cycles those out about once a week with new insane bullshit which may or may not reference insane bullshit from months to years back. Jim has not shut the fuck up. He's gotten worse. It's so bad that Flynn's team has complained to the court that it is almost impossible to sort through Jim's jargon that he spews on the Internet and Jim's team is essentially laughing in their faces. Jim's legal strategy seems to be to refuse to comply with Flynn's discovery requests
Jim says, once again, that he doesn't want to comply, and demands a hearing to explain to the judge that he doesn't want to comply (this is all in the lower court)

and to make demands that Flynn admit things like "That during your military service, you or your direct subordinates authorized the use of conduct beyond that authorized by US Law in order to obtain such intelligence from prisoners" and "When you met with Stache, you knew that Strache is the head of Austria’s far-right Freedom Party, which was established by former Nazis after World War II."

Contains all the stuff Jim wants Flynn to produce, and all the stuff he wants Flynn to admit to (or deny)
@Useful_Mistake Hardin seems to be a pretty good lawyer and stuff but Null really should've went the George Doyle Thurlow route. Doyle deflects the most reasonable of requests. No judgement can compel him to do anything. Nothing can move the Doyle.

The “ship unripe produce and let it ripen on the shelves” thing means that you can unironically have canned tomatoes that are better than store-bought, because they can ripen them correctly before processing.

I've come around to respecting frozen and canned goods more than I used to. Fresh produce is an illusion unless the person selling it is in driving distance of the farm it came from. Ripe and flash frozen / canned seems better.

Don’t get me started on “farmer’s market” scams.

Unless the farmer is dirty, riding a pig, and has a gaggle of kids that look more like the pig than the farmer, just assume they bought some shit produce from Walmart and call it “farmer raised organic”.

The real tell is if they have what you want. A real farm grows what it grows and you eat it when ready. If they’re imitating a grocery store, it’s not from a single farm. This is why CSA boxes are always random.

Lawd above it's the cheese wars 2.0. Or 1.5, the tomato discussion isn't quite as passionate as the Great Cheese Chat.
Cheese and tomato on sourdough makes a nice sammige.

Try this site if you want to bake your own sourdough but dont know where to get starter.
It's originally from an 1847 Oregon Trail starter. They'll send you some dried starter for free if you send them a stamped addressed envelope. They even send worldwide.

@Null The other day Bowblax admitted that his parents think he’s a reject.

I'm now convinced he has some kind of humiliation fetish. Batman himself wouldn't be able to beat this kind of information out of most people yet this mother fucker just gives it up for free.

You get the same thing with stone fruits (like peaches and plumbs) they do something to "preserve it fresh" but it really just makes it never get fully ripe, where as the canned fruit was canned when there was so much ripe fruit they had to do something with it right now so it doesn't spoil. At least that stuff keeps good enough you can get it truly fresh jn summer here and then again six months off when it's summer in Argentina and Australia.

They unironically do. I watched a YouTube documentary about this not long ago where they noticed a bunch of produce even still had the stickers on them. They filmed them unload the boxes from the store in the morning.

If the produce looks too perfect or is wrapped in plastic you can be sure that it's just the same crap from the store. There isn't really any authority controlling this either so they just get away with charging 3x the price for shit from the store.

Farmers markets are a big scam unless you actually know the people running the stall and where their farm is. Real home grown organic produce will not be perfecly clean, waxed and shiny, be uneven in size and look a bit "ugly" aka apples that have some spots on them or carrots that aren't perfectly straight. Everything else is factory shit from a greenhouse.

Seafood too, if you don't pull it out of the water yourself, all fish you can buy is frozen. Even if you get the fish the day it was caught, they threw it on ice on the boat right after catching.

There was a big shock in the Philippines where at MegaWorld (their walmart, a comically large company that owns the entire country) in how the produce was ugly. I had this epiphany that all the produce we see in stores in the US is a special grade and everything less perfect looking gets shipped out to poor countries.

But what this has done is divorce us from the reality of food. The meat spots in eggs, frumpiness of real apples, etc. It's all so fake.
