My belated suggestions.
For Las Vegas. If you're going to be there more than once, pick up a player's club card from one of the nicer hotels and run a few bucks though it. Then you'll be on their list for discounts. This worked well for me and my coworkers when we had a customer in Las Vegas we had to visit a few times a year and we got to move up from the Circus Circus into nicer places that still fit our allotted budget. Also, weekday trips helped.
My personal departure song every time I move:
Also I'm looking forward to Josh's coffee table book of his journeys.
And his comments about driving are me today. Why the fuck are these tourists doing 20 under the speed limit on some of the most fun and pretty curvy roads there are in the western US. At least I got to do one at full speed, even came flying up on one car over 15 miles and he pulled over to let me by sadly it was dark by then so there was no scenery, just terror.
