yeah LTO is hella impractical and just spinning rust that you ZFS and maintain is the way to go, or maybe M-Disk.

I am very angry at the people who do it. Imagine, life is shit and you want to die. You do your best to have a nice peaceful satisfying death. But every time you almost succeed, some namby-pamby do-gooder runs up and steals all your opiates and says YOU'RE WELCOME!

And my taxes pay for this bullshit. Once apon a time, you could actually expect a dope habit to be a pathway to death. Now it has to be a pathway to a failed death multiple times. And the kids are taught to just keep some narcan handy if they OD, so people are trained to not fear the possibility of death via dope. Gosh, why are overdoses and deaths INCREASING in number - its fucking a fuckin mystery scoob!

The reoccurrence of people resuscitated by narcan and people that go and do the exact thing the necessitated the narcan is nearly a perfect cicle venn diagram.

Yeesh.. prices have really gone down now that I check, 800g ultriums go for sub $10 now! Also in terms of self-storage, I'm a big fan of btrfs with zstd, pretty robust set of recovery tools for it in the case the media is damaged.

Speaking to someone who carries narcan, they seem under the impression that once you do it, the person will wake up, snap out of it, and start a small business. Yet another victim of optimistic whataboutism pushed by feel-good news stories. Usually the ones that rebound are rich addicts whose "rebound" is bankrolled by their parents who would rather them dropship custom teddy bears than drill holes in their arm in a grease-stained traphouse.

Sometimes the peace of death is the best outcome for them unfortunately. Eventually for all junkies who don't quit either they die tragically or they live long enough that most all who knew them before are grateful for their passing, and it's not out of malice.

Fun fact: this also why American conservatives don’t revolt. I like to bitch and moan anytime my constitutional rights are infringed upon, like the rest of A&N, but I’m not ready to throw my life away popping off glowies.

I feel it necessary to clarify what rape is or could be. Consider two hypotheticals:

1. Israeli soldiers capture Palestinian man, and in an effort to violate and break his spirit(and by extension that of his friends, family & countrymen) stick their rifle barrels up his ass, possibly other non-biological objects not intended for sex or tenderness(markers, baseball bats, doorknobs, etc)

Both of these hypothetical are "rape,'" both are gay, both are awful to endure... wait, where was I going with this? I guess the means and motives matter a little. Scenario 1 is more serial killer territory, Scenario 2 is tsundere romance.

Seriously consider that to fix this you have to go damn near batshit, and likely cross into quasi-illegal violations of the 13th amendment. It's an extreme process that has more with de-culting a religious nutjob than with the medical profession.

I say this with the utmost compassion, a professional in this field and the older brother of a deeply ingrained addict, family members are almost always not equipped to deal with junkie family members, you are too close to the problem and sooner or later your emotions will compromise you and the mistake you could make could potentially be fatal.

Are you willing to watch your loved one actively kill themselves by degrees? Are you willing to get into physical altercations with them when you intervene? Are you willing to watch them walk out of rehab? Check themselves out of detox against medical advice? At what point does loving support become quiet enabling if you priorize the relationship over sectioning them? The fear will paralyze you as they slip further and further away.

The statement of deprogramming them is fucking dead center bullseye.
