Man laying in a Philadelphia street overdosing on opioids, woman saves his life with narcan. Upon waking up with the last thing he remembers was that he was nodding hard, and realizing he is now in full bore withdrawals, he starts screaming at the woman to let him die next time, calls her a bitch, and tells everyone they're going to hell.

Aren't American cities just awesome?

I have a few friends who have worked in emergency departments. People who are ODing pretty much universally do not appreciate getting narcan'ed from what I've heard. Some even start attacking whoever administered it for ruining their high. Saving junkies (for now) is a pretty thankless job.
Don't do opioids, kids.

One of my friends I sometimes go to drug band shows with is a nurse and carries narcan at shows she goes to. A few years ago we were at a show and a kid fell out right in front of us. When we tapped on the shoulders of his friends who hadnt even noticed to check on their dude, my friend also offered narcan.

They wouldn't say what he had taken and wouldn't let my friend give him narcan. We just walked to a different part of the lawn and hoped on duty medics got to him in time.

Surprised to hear someone outside of the lolcow sphere name KF and Null, even more surprised that it was in a positive manner.

I was looking primarily at the subtext of what he was saying. Granted this can lead to extrapolation that he might not have even intended. Regardless I think its very worthwhile to look at arguments from individuals that aren't a part of /our tribe/ but also aren't deathcultist tranny worshippers that only operate in bad faith.

There’s also the “clear and present danger” concept - kids right now are getting permanently mutilated and destroyed. Few if any 12 year olds are getting married.

So it’s easy to focus on the first and dismiss the second with a “yeah that’s dumb”.

I can confirm this. Administering naloxone to an opioid overdose produces an extremely unpleasant reaction. You are essentially ripping someone from the grips of a blissful, painless death where you just die in your sleep and dumping them in right back into the reality they are trying to escape from, and it is always painful. The adrenaline wears off quickly and they are in fight or flight mode. The training we give to teach addicts and their friends on administering is to give the narcan, and step as far back as you can and to keep 911 on the line, because when they wake up, they're going to be very angry at whoever did it.

having dealt with enterprise storage, you'd be better off with a pair of toshiba/dellEMC disks in raid for consumer shelf storage. With the new VVC codec I'd wonder how many matis would fit in there
