Pretty sure 4000 IUs is the recommended upper limit, but toxic levels are much higher than that and require months to accumulate.

Realistically just get a blood panel done to see what your levels are and to get a gauge on how much supplementation you need.

Those NIH/CDC recommendations are based on bad math that assumes your body processes vitiman D in the same way as vitiman A. You have ways to break D down in your body that you don't for A. Proper RDV is probably more like 5-10k IU.
