I came across a drama involving a cosplayer named Toki who cosplays Blue Archive characters (and other more mature but petite characters).

It all started with a xitter account @R2Kain posting this clip from the anime Ebiten.

The clip shows an older man (who is actually a younger man with a growth disorder) giving pills to his teenage classmates that turn them into "lolis". He then announces he will make them his personal maids.

Do these pills turn them into children or just super small versions of their original forms? The answer is unfortunately children. In an earlier scene, he says he's gathered a bunch of "little girls" (the word used is youjo, generally meaning 4-12 years old) because he's a "lolicon".

(The Spanish translation uses the word "lolicon" instead of "pedophile" like the English dub, which is more accurate to the original Japanese.)

Later in the episode, one of the now-lolified girls says that the pills must create this effect due to the "Vandenbergh Effect", literally using the word "Vandenbergh" in Japanese. "The Vandenbergh effect is a phenomenon where exposure to the pheromones of a sexually mature male accelerates the onset of puberty in prepubescent females." In the anime, they're using the reverse of this, so unpubertying them.


Are they using the word "lolicon" to mean an affinity for small girls, even if it's not sexual? They are not. Later in the episode one of the girls, when asked whether she's a lolicon while fawning over her lolified classmates, says she is not and "Small things are cute. That's all."


The antagonist of the episode says "While it's disappointing that you're no longer "little girls" (using the word "youjo" again) harems don't necessarily have to have them."

referencing the idea that he was trying to turn them into children, not small women.

He also references one of the teenage girls here as being "tiny", clearly referencing her small chest.

Many lolicons would make the argument that she would be a loli due to her small chest and petite appearance, but then why doesn't the antagonist here consider her a "little girl", despite being a "lolicon"? Obviously, it's because she's not, and the show knows the difference.

The context of this show is very comedic, but what I explain in the spoiler is that this guy has pedophilic intentions. In fact, I believe that's the entire joke the show is going for.

What is the point of all this? To demonstrate the simple fact that when lolicons say things like "there's no human being that looks like an anime character and viceversa" they are lying. They will say this when it's convenient, while in reality basing their drawings off petite Asian women.
