In United States law the obscene depiction of children is governed by two different laws:
  1. 18 U.S. Code § 2252A - Certain activities relating to material constituting or containing child pornography which follows the definitions of 18 U.S. Code § 2256. In this law child pornography (alternatively called CSAM and CSEM) is exclusively photographic or "deep-fake" depictions of real minors.
  2. 18 U.S. Code § 1466A - Obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children. Obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children are "a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting" that is or appears to be of a minor. The depictions you are referring to fall afoul of this law rather than the first, although there is very little difference between the two, since they are punished with the same penalties, although the judge would likely consider the photorealism and other factors when determining a sentence.

This was most likely changed out of fear of the game being banned as containing child obscenity, since it would allow players to ride the camera onto the genital region of Diana. People have become much more serious recently with regards to suppressing child obscenity with for example Texas passing a law banning AI cp and payment processors forcing games companies like Valve to remove cp games from their webstores.

Wait, if drawn CP is illegal, why is there so fucking much of it on US hosted clearnet sites? Why isn't the FBI going after sites like Twitter for hosting it?

Criminals can get away with doing crimes when the powers that be let them, Facebook actively wants scam ads because they make more money and their content filter is notorious for letting people livestream killing sprees. The platform owners either don't realize that it's illegal (as you may know almost nobody in America is aware that lolicon is illegal and about ten years ago the general consensus in the anime community was that it is "questionably legal") or don't care because they don't view it as a problem and aren't being forced to take action. If you flag social media posts for lolicon make sure to mention 18 US Code 1466A, it will at least make sure that they know the content is illegal.

This is a different matter, piracy is almost always a civil offense and therefore the aggrieved party needs to take action. It turns out to not be beneficial for copyright holders to take action in the great majority of cases.

I agree the game has a lot of endearing scenes (specially towards the end) but the fact that a lot of people are making this about the little girl and the cunnyposters coming out of the woodwork make it difficult to defend it. Specially when you see them get so defensive. There are also multiple Vtubers that have harped on the situation and many have become pro Pragmata.

Could be, but seeing how the Pragmata and Capcom xitters block "uoh cunny" poosters I give them some leeway.
I think people have become too paranoid over the pedophile allegiations, just because you include a child in your work of fiction doesn't immediately mean the creator wants to fuck kids.

To be fair, media where protagonists take care of and protect a child (aka the Lone Wolf and Cub trope) tends to attract these fans too though it's at the time were these lolicons are not as openly loud nor insane as it is now (especially with Diana being an appealing girl with blond hair and blue eyes not helping on the matter).

Apparently there are some fans that ended up not liking Diana once they learned that her voice actor was black.

I looked in my library trying to find games with this trope.
I found:
- Witcher 3 where you have Geralt and Ciri, the latter being a daughter, but not a child
- RE Village, where the protagonist literally runs around collecting pieces of his baby daughter, with the latter being more a McGuffin then a character. I think they made a DLC with her as a teen, but I don't own that

That's all I found in my library of ~150 games.

I now realise that my reaction to this game was so strong, because I was never really exposed to so many and vocal pedophiles, winking at each other and rubbing it in our noses, that this game "is for them".
Also, almost everyone running defence or openly lusting at this game, is a fucking anime avatar.
Another day, and more fuel for my burning hatred of weebshits.

tbh the guy is equating all animation to anime. Anime makes barely a profit today and unless there are merch sales you will most likely lose money. That's why the jap government manages the anime industry as a critical sector of the japanese economy.

The problem with this is that most animators are willing to take inhuman working conditions (regarding job security and working hours) in order to make shit work. Reason why Hayao Miyazaki grew jaded with the state of the anime industry since he was a strong advocate for workers unions. And all he fought for ended up in nothing.

Yes, she's like 15/16 in the DCL and it revolves around her contacting her dad who was trapped in the conciousness of the mold. And harping on the Resident Evil franchise you can also go back to Revelations 2 where Barry, upon arriving to the prision island to rescue his daughter finds a young girl with powers that he tags along with. And let's not forget Sherry Birkin in Resident Evil 2.
