In my opinion, it’s pretty great, but the game is very buggy and prone to save data corruptions.
Yeah, apart from the bugs it's a pretty fun game. Also has the best end theme in the series.

I absolutely love these guys. They're from the same musical collective (Elephant 6) as bands like Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control. Also, the LBP series has a surprising amount of indie rock in its soundtracks? The Go! Team and Passion Pit are other bands I like that have songs in the LBP games.

Me and my friends used to host online moon wars on LBP2. We figured out how to make a "nuke" that would spawn self-multiplying impact bombs until everyone's PS3 crashed.

It's a shame they stopped making these, a remastered LBP2 without the resource limitations of the PS3 would be nice.

Well it was a shitty over hyped 2d platformer with stickers you could add to levels. One of the most disappointing games I've ever played.
This fat, gay, retarded nigger has ZERO creativity, ZERO imagination, ZERO creative skill.

Sony nuking this entire series and decades of fan works from existence because they were too lazy to stop like 5 hackers makes me MATI.

Sackboy was basically the face of PlayStation in the 2010s and now the franchise is deadder than Jak and Daxter.

They also lied about it too. They initially stated they were going to only have it down for server maintenance but then were too much of lazy fucks to actually do anything about it.

Oh, I remember why I started playing it in the first place: when PSN got hacked and was down for a long time, as an apology they let you get 2 of 5 (I think?) games for free. LBP1 was one of them.

One kind of level that plagued the game back then were the emo love story levels. They were hilariously bad, usually the storyline was "emo boy meets emo girl, drama happens (usually she gets pregnant), they get drunk on Monster Energy drink, one of them gets in a car crash/is hit by a car, they meet at the hospital, cry and say I love you forever, everyone claps, The End".

There was also an infamous user that basically copied bad levels and republished them almost daily. I remember there was another user that interviewed (in)famous creators and published a level with the interview (using the Playstation Eye audio feature), and we found out that the annoying user was just a kid. The interview was funny though.

Also, there was a forum that people published their level ideas and progress, it was interesting to see the creative process of those famous creators. I don't remember if there was any drama because I was just a kid and not really involved in the forum, but I supposed there was some (as it happens in most forums). I wish I could remember its name.

I confess I watched too many tutorials to make my sackboy look emo. It was fun though!

Was that LatinPlayer10 or someone else? That guy was well known for copying levels.

You just gave me draconian flashbacks. My favorite bit of those levels is the mom of one of the characters is depicted as a fat ugly lady, so you could tell the guy making them probably hated his parents during his little emo phase. I literally would not have remembered that if not for your post.

My thread tax is remembering all those shitty "survive the sharks!!" Copies that flooded the main page, making basically everything but direct searches useable towards the end. Or that guy who made little movies, I think his name has something to do with potatoes?

My personal history with LBP begins with me playing the first one at some other kid's house. I was always a PlayStation kid growing up when everyone else I knew at school was on Xbox, so naturally I ended up gravitating towards single player games. I had a PS3 and LBP 2. To this day I've not played the first one but really want to. I still have LBP2 and my PS3, but I really need to get my hands on some new PS3 controllers even though there's only third party stuff nowadays. I got LBP3 but after a few levels it just wouldn't work? Like I'd finish a few levels but it wouldn't let me progress any further.

The Go! Team

The minute I opened this thread I wanted to talk about the music but you beat me to it! Of all the music featured in LBP2, The Go! Team were the only band that I really got into. I still listen to them to this day. I actually got to see them in perform the first album (where Get It Together is from) live, but got way too drunk to even remember it, but they did put on a fantastic show. I really do hope they perform in the US again someday. Their most recent album came out in 2023. Some other songs of theirs to check out:

Buy Nothing Day

Milk Crisis

Ready To Go Steady

LBP2 was a really good upgrade from the first one. LBP1 has its charm, the level are simpler and creative and worth a play, but for me LBP2 is the best one.

Sometimes I listen to soundtrack of both games while I'm working. This topic made me realize that it's one of my favorite series of all time and I get really happy to talk about it. Damn, I might turn on my PS3 to play it for a little bit.

Yeah, LBP3 is really buggy. What specifically is your issue? Is your profile keep being corrupted?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they couldn’t patch the PS3 releases because Sony no longer accepts new software updates for PS3 titles. Then again, you could make the argument that Sony should make an exception for security updates.

They actually lied twice. The first time was relating to the whole PS3 debacle and then the second was for the PS4 servers. Overall it's incredibly clear that Sony does not give a fuck about anything and will gleefully neglect everything no matter how much effort would actually go into fixing it.

Also, the whole thing about Sony not accepting new software updates would probably be bullshit since it's literally a first party game. They still update the PS3 OS. It just seems more clear to me that they don't care about LBP apart from whatever new spinoff title they can milk from this.

Does anyone remember Five Nights at Sackbot’s? I remember religiously playing its multiplayer version whenever people join my pod.

Was it some kind of horror level? I remember constantly getting into those when doing the dive ins.
Yeah. It’s an obvious FNAF fan-game. It had a singleplayer level, the aforementioned multiplayer level, a trailer for the game, and another trailer for a sequel that never came out. I recalled the creator of these levels publishing a cutscene level explaining that he’s moving on from LBP.

Also, I vividly remember playing those Jeff the Killer levels. The music that plays when Jeffy chases you is stuck in the back of my head. 😅

I must have played it during those aformentioned dive ins then. I actually remember a fair bit of creepypasta based levels about shit like Jeff the Killer or god forbid Sonic.EXE.

Speaking of cutscene levels, I (and others) had watched countless Machinimas on the game themselves and on YouTube.

One trend I remember is those “in a nutshell” levels, and I thought some of them were comedy gold. Now that I think about it, I’m curious as to a “Kiwi Farms in a Nutshell” level would look like…

I feel like there would have to be a distinction made if it were done by a user of the site or a troon. I can confidently imagine that one made by a troon would devolve into crying over the Farms making fun of things like bathtub HRT.
