So she's stepping on my turf since my chosen writing genre is historical fiction focusing on early 20th century America. And already her entire stupid project pisses me off.

- Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was a huge turning point in worker rights and fire safety. She completely glosses over this and uses it as a convenient way to kill off a parent. Just wait a few years for the Spanish Flu Pandemic.

- They/them pronouns in 1911. Lmao

- We aren't told why the main character is special but everyone just accepts it and heaps praise upon her like it's The Room. It's weird.

- Agreeing with the above, go with a newsie instead of construction. Also know your history you dumb bitch.

- I just hate historical fiction that takes modern ideology and slaps it on top of eras that wouldn't stand for that. Lesbians and crossdressers got put into mental wards for being sexually degenerate. No way in hell early 20th century America is going to put up with 2010s nonbinary garbage. Probably get packed up and sent to one of the many island prisons and sanitoriums around New York about that time with the other mental cases and tuberculosis victims.

You could make an interesting project about a crossdresser in this time. It's not totally unheard of to have women dress as men to marry their female lovers but it was very frowned upon. This just reads as long boring masturbation over making the 1910s woke.

Glenn Close starred in a movie called "Albert Nobbs" a few years ago, playing a woman who poses as a man to so she can earn enough as a hotel butler to open her own store. She meets another cross dressing woman, who is posing as a man so she can hide from her abusive husband. It was set in the late 1920's Ireland and based on a book written in 1927. It got a heap of critical accolades and made a small profit.

So it is possible to write about LGBT people from that era without turning it into dumb wokeshit - too bad Lindsay can't step outside the NPC RighThink sphere and understand that Wokeness didn't exist in the early 1900s.

Yeah, even if Lindsay had a better idea for a plot, her writing skills would butcher it. That said, I’m a sucker for so bad it’s good media, so I want Lindsay to finish this project.
 
I love how the subtle things SJWs do end up being very telling of their motivations.

Lesbians have existed through history. Either lesbians who were perfectly fine with their own identity or those who identified as male or male activities (tomboy, butch). Then we also had crossdressers: either people who simply wanted to dress like the opposite sex because "fuck norms" or because they actually felt more identified with the opposite sex.

You know what we didn't have? "non-bynary". That has never been a thing. Anyone saying that it did, it's wrong and choosing to twist history to fit their narratives.

Lindsay could be writing about a lesbian girl who is first a tomboy and eventually realises she likes women and isn't sure whether she's actually a man or just a woman who likes other women. No, it has to be a "they", a something in between. Because, I believe, Lindsay herself doesn't want to admit she's a lesbian. She likes women, but she doesn't want to accept she's a woman who likes women, nor she's comfortable being a man either. She's a "they". Lindsay does not accept herself. All those mental gymnastics she makes about gender and saying it's not strict or defined or it's a spectrum is her own way to cope with how she's very confused herself.

I just checked her twitter. She NEVER calls her gf that, a "girlfriend" despite the woman in question identifies as a she/her in her bio (ofc), hence, qualifies to be such. No, it's always "my partner".

For a time she identified as a “cisgender lesbian” on her wretched YouTube show before doing a 180 several episodes in and declaring herself “non-binary.” Don’t know what provoked it. Perhaps she wanted to liquidate some of her “privilege?”

Another dimension to this particular story:

A teacher in this community, armed with Lindsay Amer videos, telling Grade One students that "there's no such thing as boys and girls" is no trivial matter when you consider that the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), which serves that community, has a "Gender Diversity Clinic" that takes referrals from "school guidance counsellors and teachers".
