Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is so poorly done and the second part isn't even out.
The story jumps from 1995 to 2022 too many times. I will admit I liked Life Is Strange 1 and Before The Storm, but I hate 2, 3 was subpar, and Double Exposure is fucking stupid.
All of the girls are 16 or 17 years old in '95 and in their 40's in 2022. You have Swann, the fat nerdy movie-fanatic as the main character. Nora, the lesbian goth girl who's a scared-y-cat oddly enough. Autumn, the token Black Army brat who wants no part in White foolishness when it comes to spooky shit. Finally you have Kat, the firecracker who has a poorly implemented twist reveal of her backstory at the end of part 1.
Kat has leukemia and there are no signs that she does until her sister's boyfriend reveals it at the very end.
The girls act infantile and extremely cringe, even for 90's teenage antic standards.
The social commentary regarding some issues is unnecessary. There are references to COVID vaccines, tree-hugging, deer hunting, fatphobia, Canada being "better" than America, slut shaming, being a "model minority", and too much emphasis on sexuality.
There are some minor inconsistencies with the 90's theme. The Blaire Witch Project is referenced even though that came out in '99 and not '95. Autumn also had a Yu-Gi-Oh necklace before the manga even came out, but whatever.
The antagonist is Kat's sister's boyfriend and it is really lame how they portrayed their fights with him.
The girls make a blood pact in the woods, next to an old house they found that they turned into a hangout spot, and find a huge glowing sinkhole the next day where they did. The girls make wishes into the sinkhole and weird purple shit happens sometimes later on that isn't fully explained.
Part 1 ends with the dumbest fucking "concert" I've ever seen. Even special education 10 year olds wouldn't have done what they did. They went to a REDNECK BAR PARKING LOT UNINVITED THAT KAT'S SISTER WORKS AT TO PLAY GIRLY PUNK MUSIC.
There is a sense of urgency in something that happens at the end, a medical emergency to Kat with her bleeding out her nose and collapsing, and the dumb sister wastes time screaming at her sister's friends and throwing their band equipment out of the truck bed to take her sister to the hospital. Kat either died that day or she will survive into part 2.
Vara's Livestream of it (she didn't buy this garbage, she got it on PlayStation Plus). Thanks for taking one for the team, Vara!
