Nowadays you can live a relatively normal life with HIV, because science advanced to the point that you have a lot of meds for the infected person take so it doesn't evolve to AIDS. Once it evolves to AIDS you're pretty much fucked

At first i thought the rationale was some sick logic as "now that i have it i don't fear getting it anymore and i get to have unprotected sex". But some sick fucks actually eroticize it

Yeah. My husband's brother had HIV. Not from sex though. He was a Hemophiliac in the 80s.

I learned a lot about HIV because of him.

Having routine exams should be a habit for everyone, LGBT people do it way more frequently, especially if they're going steady with someone and wanna do it without protection. But straight people should too

There's people that still believe straights can't get HIV through sex
 
My husband told me that he spent a lot of time in a local HIV group for gay men mostly, but also for anyone who was unfortunate to get HIV in that period. From what he told me, most of them were very supportive of his family and his brother, and his brother got treatment there.

But some of the men, a few of them were inappropriate with my husband. (He went there all the time with his family as a kid up to his teenage years.) One of the men there offered to rent a room to my husband, he was 16 or 17 at the time, and when my husband rode to visit him to see the apartment, the man wanted his underwear.

He got the hell out of there after that. It's a real shame that there were a few creepy assholes, because from what he told me, most of them were very nice to his family and even were Big Brothers to his sick brother.

Yeah, I still wonder about this. I think he was just a weird man who lusted after teenagers. My husband was a young teenager who was working regularly and looking for a cheap room to rent, and the guy knew his age since he was a regular. So I think he just wanted to take advantage.

I must be very naive because I had no idea people were actually that devious. I still remember how creepy those guys were. Openly bragging about preying on naive gay men and even raping them.

God, some people might be just born evil or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to the fact that having an STI and being a sex weirdo are strongly comorbid. Certainly, a higher than average percentage of HIV victims were promiscuous, and a higher than average percentage of promiscuous people are creepy fucks.

Can't remember where I saw it but I remember seeing an interview with a bugchaser where he described it as the "dark gift" and the guys spreading it called themselves "gift givers". I think it's basically a corruption fetish, like how some people have fetishes for mentally corrupting others (EPI, straight to gay fantasies, etc.), this is just physical corruption. They don't care about having to take drugs for the rest of their lives, in fact they deliberately sabotage their treatment regime to try and encourage novel HIV strains to make it harder to treat. The idea they've got turbo HIV in their veins actually gets them off.

Yeah, back in the old days you had to take AZT. That's what my BIL took, and he took tons of pills. Interesting enough, he didn't die from HIV or AIDS, not technically. All the medications screwed his body up and he died after an operation that he had to get because of it. But...the HIV medications caused it.

You're luckier to get it after the 80s and 90s.

If you want to hate humans, find the old forum posts where HIV infected men bragged about how they'd date innocent men while planning to have sex with and infect them.

And when the men would call and say they got it, they'd openly lie to them.
