Wow, that's a lot of people. I sort of doubt one guy did this alone..

No, it's understandable. I'm in the same boat! Apparently the shooting went on for at least 20 minutes. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but with him so high up and however long the shooting took place, I wonder if he was just shooting at whoever he could spot before the police came into his room.

If you watch any videos of the shooting, it sounds like the guy was going cyclic. So he was bump firing, had a device that simulates bump firing, or illegally converted whatever he was shooting to full auto. He was also probably rolling with 50+ drums from the sounds of things.

edit: I should add that bump firing is generally wildy inaccurate over any sort of distance and my bet it s slide fire stock or one of the crank trigger devices that would have let him properly shoulder the rifle. But, at this point who the fuck knows. He could have made his own drop in auto sear for an AR.

/k/ thinks that the gun was something like an AK/M4 with a 75-100 round mag that the shooter was bump firing

Bump firing is this
https://youtube.com/watch?v=U-nUA52BS3c

Bumpfiring is inherently inaccurate. like, good luck hitting the paper at 50 yards inaccurate. This guy killed over 50 people...200 more injured, from atop a high rise hotel.

That constant rate of fire, the apparent accuracy of the shooter...and the amount of shots fired per burst? This motherfucker was using a goddamn belt fed LMG.

So it was a tranny that did all this then?

Oh God!

I had a hilarious tab mix up earlier. I tried to fix it. But I guess I wasn't fast enough.

Anyway, I'm hearing on TV that 50 are dead and it's now the worst mass shooting in US history. 49 people were killed in the Pulse shooting.

What the actual fuck, that legitimately sounds like a light machine gun. Literally no other mass shooting in the US has involved anything full auto (AR-15s don't have a fun switch). If it was a gangbanger with an SMG or something it would sound way more snappy. Go ahead and watch vids of people firing PKMs and stuff in Syria, that's what this sounds like, a rifle caliber light machine gun. RIP a Hughes amendment repeal.

Could bump firing into a densely packed crowd, like at this concert, yield results like this though?

He was firing from the hotel across the street by the accounts I read.

While I agree that's what it sounded like, the dude was a sex offender. No way he's getting his hands on a Title II unless he managed to steal one from a friend or one of the ranges in Vegas that rents them.

the machinegun registry is closed since the 1980s. MAC-10s go for thousands of dollars that are legally transferable. LMG? you are looking at 30-50k minimum.

Not to mention you basically have to give the ATF a close up of you colon to be eligable to get a transferrable machinegun.

No way this was a fucking legal weapon. How the fuck did this guy get an LMG with multiple 75 round+ belts? the high capacity drums and shit arent Reliable. not for this constant rate of fire. the "Batman" shooter tried to use a 100 round double drum at the movie theater, and it Jammed on him because they are shit quality.

From the reported distances ive seen? Not unless the murder /k/ube itself was guiding his bullets.

He was shooting into a crowd of 30,000, I don't think he needed accuracy.

The old Romanian AK drums are reliable. Not the wind up chink ones. But, the part and knowledge to convert an AK to full auto are much less widely known in the US. AK DIAS exist, but I don't even think the pics of them are available on the net anymore. They were from some Euro years ago who lived in a country where if you owned the gun, it was legal to convert to full auto. Whatever it was stood up to sustained fire. Or he could have just bought something off Mexicans.

edit: For that matter newer AR drums are reliable too. iraqvet8888 uses some in his torture tests.

This.

You can see in some of the videos that the spray of bullets was so wide that some hit the video wall (the tiles that light up) on the right side of the stage. It's like shooting at 30,000 fish packed into a barrel. You could likely have single bullets hitting multiple people.

Not all the injuries and deaths have to be shooting-related either, they could have been people who ducked down who got trampled by the crowd fleeing, or tripping over people, etc.

I would disagree due to the distance. at least on the point of him bump firing.

Well aware of that, hence why I cited the Hughes amendment. This guy is 64 years old, he could have easily bought a machine gun for $5-7k when he was younger in the 80s. Yeah, Chinese Beta mag ripoffs for ARs are shit, but belts seldom jam unless your gun is dirty or beat to shit. A well maintained MG can easily fire 200-300 rounds continuously before seizing up due to heat.
t. Dad has an RPD that my grandpa bought in the 70s
