Ash is not the problem, there are roads under 30' of lava.

It took 170 days to reopen Highway 132 in Hawaii after waiting 8 months for the lava to cool enough to excavate it. You can see areas of the lava flow start steaming as the dozers pioneer the new road.


eta: this project was maybe 3 miles of road total.

I guess then people in Casablanca and Rabat and other cities along the shore will have to go to the highlands like the Atlas mountains if and when La Palma collapse?
