Lol, looking back at the beginning of the thread it's amazing what the last two months of meltdown have brought forth. He's gone down really quick for a guy once had a pretty prestigious reputation.

He's been taken down for this before, though, and has had skeletons in his closet since. He managed to pimp his bullshit narrative, even though actually looking back in retrospect, fucking CounterPunch of all places more or less called it right.

Even putting it all in the most favorable light for Eichenwald and optimistically assuming he is not actually a pedophile, he showed a tremendous lack of discretion and ethics in the whole matter and was more or less able to sweep it under the rug.

Also note that in the course of that whole series of events, he used imaginary "seizures" as an excuse for why he repeatedly lied about unethical financial gifts to a journalistic source. That is also granting a tremendous amount of benefit of the doubt considering that the only other explanation for the gifts was that he was intentionally funding a child pornography site where he had admin access, but for the porn itself, not just for paying a journalistic source for a story for which, again, he was paid money.

The tentacle porn shit by itself was the kind of stuff you would rib someone over, but in the context it has, it really doesn't look good for Eichenwald.
 
I was surprised to see him on this week's episode of Twin Peaks, given David Lynch's use of flickering lights in his work.

In case anyone's wondering, he's talking about the foremost architect of the Spanish Inquisition, because being laughed at for leaving your tentacle porn up when you tweet a screenshot is apparently on the same level as being spuriously accused of heresy and tortured and burned at the stake.

Most historians now think Torquemada targeted rich minorities as a blatant cash-grab, with religion having very little to do with it. I'm assuming that by "who know the truth" he's trying to say he legitimately thinks we all believe his ridiculous "I was showing tentacle porn to my family" story but are pretending not to, to persecute him with allegations we don't even believe.

Most public figures somehow go through life without a single allegation of sexual fishiness. He's managed two so far.
