I have not seen the movie, but I keep hearing about it. Some of my friends have daughters who are of the perfect age to be into it.

I'm someone who enjoys watching animated movies if they're worth it. Is it worth watching on my own, or should I just wait to watch it with my kids once they are old enough to enjoy it?

dont they know about nam or the pacific front? gook lovers need to fuck off
Korea and the US were allies during Vietnam, and the Pacific front was what turned South Korea into a US ally in the first place with the liberation from Japanese occupation in 1945.

Why would either of those make people not like Koreans?

If you're going to bring up history at least use something that makes sense like the Korean war, where we poured a bunch of resources into helping South Korea defend itself from the North but then got cucked out by military beurocracy and left more or less empty handed.
:bogged:

i dont want to burst your bubble but alot of the 90's and 00's childrens entertainment is just as awful. i think that if you are able to put aside your nostalgic bias you might find yourself cringing.

Dear memories of my father coming home from work to find us watching cartoons always used to say the same the same thing you are implying right now. (at least the gist of it was the same)
I mean I don't think that everything that fell out of Michael Eisner's asshole was solid gold, to be fair. I just think there were more hits then compared to now. Maybe it's just nostalgia but I feel like even just watching it now the quality has absolutely dipped for a lot of these companies.

all chinky gooks are the same and no korea dragged us into a war killing tens of thousands of americans because they are lazy and couldnt defend themselves against godless communists

Are you a man or a woman, and if you're a man are you gay?

Yes it's relevant.

dont follow the gooky sheep crowd into watching chinky filth

Woman.

Hopefully the movie isn't too ... "YASS-ifying"? Because I hate that kind of shit, lol.
Okay yeah then you can give it a shot solo if you don't want to watch it with kids. It's a fun movie, but don't expect it to change your life or anything.

Luckily I didn't notice any yass-kweening, though I'm not a woman so maybe my senses are dulled on that front. The characters are asian pop-stars in their 20s so be ready for that.

I'm suing you for exposing me to 15 seconds of that probably woke, cringe, western-aping-chink slop.

If taylor swift can shove her shit at us for a decade+ now, and collect various prizes, why not some kimchis, too? If you think you are suffering now you better brace for next year when that one gaypop band comes out of a 3 (4?) year long hiatus and goes on a world tour.

I saw this movie and surprisingly enjoyed it.

Will say it really scratches that animated musical niche I've been waiting for awhile, even if the songs are more like Kpop, they are actually pretty good songs for the most part.

Though I'm still blown away by how much this movie blew up.

I can't believe my hecking wholesome music charterinos has things on it that I do not like. (:_(

Fuck I've been seeing this shit everywhere and avoiding it on purpose and then of all places I see it on Kiwifarms? Guess I'll sperg about it now

The farms best alogs got nothing on kpop stans (that's what kpop fans are called, in case you aren't terminally online), even Hasan dents that manage to make it into every single community to defend their king roach got nothing on the kpop audience. The amount of money made from this industry is ungodly and on top the fact its blatant child exploitation and the industry is often used as a tool for groomers, sex traffickers and pedos. A thing some kiwis may not be aware of is that porn is banned in south korea and so is hentai, so to them the next best thing is jerking it to half naked young females - a really big factor in all aspects of the industry.

Reasons to hate this movie without even watching it:

1. An easy cash grab, with Korean kpop culture being a global phenomenon it is bound to succeed as long as it carries the same aesthetics. Which is whatever, the bigger problem is it further promotes the kpop culture to a young generation making them easy targets in the future (this is the biggest one imo)
2. If this movie was about white girls, it would get hated on by everyone from every direction and likely cancelled, but because it's so ""inclusive"" (only Asians, but sepcifically Koreans, Asians are very racist amongst themselves btw) it gets the pass! And there's no way the studio will say no to the money and underaged girls coming their way
3. Speaking of inclusivity, isn't it so hecking bigoted that all the girls are skinny and pretty??? And the boys too??? Once again, they only get to do this because its centered about another culture (let's ignore the fact approx %60 of the world is Asian)
4. All of the voice actors but one (he's actually Korean and not a Korean-American) are either Korean-Americans or Korean-Canadians, each character has both a voice actor and a singing actor. What's the problem with this exactly? When casting for a cartoon or an anime they cry about muh inclusivity, but when its about their cultures they insist on their entire cast being Asians, even though most of them don't even know much of any language but English

The music is ok, but not amazing. The animation is just passable. The story is literally ripped off from every other magical gorl slop from early 2000s. There's nothing new, creative or interesting to see there. I wouldn't care if it flew under the radar, everyone is free to create whatever slop they like but it's tiring to see people coping that it's anything other than what it is.
edit: visually itsimilar to spiderverse or To Be Hero X (Chinese funded slop that they paid a Japanese studio to promote, so basically the same. Imagine how popular that would be if the main character was a kpop star instead of a hero) yet worse than either

First live performance of "Golden" and my disappointment is immeasurable. They lowered the Key instead of trying too sing it live in A Major. Playing it safe outside a studio setting I suppose. I want too see them do the A5 major live though. The excuse is the lead singer is coming off of an illness.

Anyway, this is the song live.

Still, its very clearly not lip synch, and no computer assistance. They are very talented.

Golden remains number 1 on the billboard hot 100 for the eighth week, and the movies music Album had been awarded the Platinum Record by the RIAA.

Sounds indistinguishable from Taylor Swift and better than any Beatles song.

Sales and stream plays means nothing (RIAA have a retarded formula for that), it's all fake and gay. Good thing that it's not a nigger on the screen at least.

I tried watching the movie but I could not stand the fucking cringe and had to stop watching. Couldn't make it past the 6 minute mark lol. I could feel my brain turning into mush and my dick retracting into my pelvis.

This is all the worse with how they're all like: for the fans! When irl Kpop is probably the one entertainment industry that cares the least about its fans lol.

Does it get better later in the movie or is it going to remain more or less the same throughout?

this is what film and music fans deserve
