Dynasty Warriors gets a very very bad reputation imo. But tbh its fun especially if you just like hitting things.

From what I've seen besides the other properties spinoffs (dragon quest, Zelda, fire Emblem, etc) these are the most well received entries:

Dynasty Warriors 5/Empires, 8 XL
Samurai Warriors 4
Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate

Do you play them?

I'm actually still playing WO3U on-off even though 4 is out. Pretty fun to go in and kill tens of thousands of enemies at any given time.

The third and fourth Dynasty Warriors games were just a couple of games that I always talked about in middle school, since I couldn’t believe Final Fantasy X and X-2 did not have any real competition other than Silent Hill 2 & 3 and Kingdom Hearts.

They were fine, I'm sure I still have DW3 and Samurai Warriors around somewhere but I think if you honestly really enjoy the games you have to be some kind of a mentally stunted faggot like Jim Sterling. I know he's a dynasty warriors fan.

I enjoyed them somewhat as a kid, but then that dude at the game store recommended I try the original Monster Hunter when it came out (it came with a strategy guide free, because they knew full well you'd never figure out what the fuck you were doing without one. The first game was much less forgiving than later entries) and I realized hey, there are games that aren't made for retards that don't just let you win. That's pretty cool.

And I never played anything in the Dynasty Warriors series again.

I was never really into these games. But the only Warriors game that i was really into was Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, as i am a big Zelda fan and this game has some of the most overbloated content i have seen in any game. I still go back to it from time to time.

I've played a few Warriors games. They can be pretty fun as a couch co-op but playing solo doesn't feel as enjoyable.

One of my friends has a real autistic love for the series, so much so every time he meets up with me and our other friends for a major meet up, he always brings Warriors games and the consoles to play them on. He's very nostalgic about Dynasty Warriors 3.

I haven't played one in a while, just because I only do PC gaming now and the DW prices tend to be stupid. But I have nothing but fond memories of DW, Warriors Orochi, and so on.

It's funny and campy but the gameplay's really good, the genre is pretty unique, and sometimes even the stories and dialog are actual interesting. WO's whole bit where you start at the final defeat and use time travel to go back in time and correct all the key battles one by one (while seeing what kind of mistakes or chain-of-events that led to the initial fuckup) was engaging.

In 9's defense they were poorly directed and not allowed second takes. Some of the actors did AMA's on reddit and a few of them were fans of the series prior too.
True but it's just one issue among a mess, I have no idea if 9: Empires changed anything or not
Is Fire Emblem a tolerable game? I have seen it a few times at a reasonable price

>Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate
I liked Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate because it had Ayane who is hot as fuck, and she only acknowledges a dude as human and not some demonic monster because he's clearly heterosexual.

Gave me some neat options for playable characters and didn't shit up the original timeline, so I can cope lol
Good cope.

Hyrule Warriors was a decent intro for mainline Zelda games. Fun as hell, too, but I don’t gotta have to tell you that. I also happened to cop the Definitive Edition a few summers ago at my local Walmart so I was able to get the full experience without having to shill out for any DLCs.

I wanted to try out AoC. But I ended up getting FE Three Hopes near the end of July (“story”’s quality varies throughout and character movesets are very samey but take what you will). Are you familiar with FE warriors (original or Hopes?)
