If this community lets doom and tetris win then it's no better than any of those crap IGN articles that just remixes the same list of 50 oldfag games forever, would be sad

Feels a bit late for that critique given that the other entries in the list aren't exactly spring chickens either (Also every "top game" forum list seems to end up like this, I just hope we arrive at one closer to /v/ than reddit). Better luck next bracket I suppose, hope that one's OP gives longer than a week for people to vote.

True true. I just can't accept that all the picks are always SO old, like doom 1993 is still infinitely better than doom 2016 or any other shooter since the clinton admin.

The reverse/inverted castle is something that's incredibly memorable and makes the game stand out a lot as well. It's not the first game by any means to do something like a light/dark world, but it's one of the more unique takes on it. Even the awful voice acting has a certain charm to it.
That's what I mean about there being so many neat touches to love, as well as some cool easter eggs and stuff the game doesn't explicitly tell you like Alucard's spell inputs (I think you can find them on cards maybe). It's also one of the only games I'm aware of where you can lock yourself out of the whole second half of the game if you get the bad ending, although I can't remember how easy it is to miss the clues for saving Richter.

OT: I had to sacrifice DOOM II yesterday, so today I'll make up for it. Tetris too because as pleasant as Super Mario RPG looks I've never even played it.

This is what happens without any ranking guidelines. Should a game primarily be judged in the context of its contemporaries? Should they get extra points for being the first to do something? Voters are deciding this on a case by case basis and it's not consistent between rounds.

So first Super Mario 64 will beat Super Mario Galaxy 2 because it "pioneered the concept", but then Doom 2 will beat Doom because "it's the same game but better".

You are taking this waaayyyy too seriously, buddy. 😀

No I'm saying the opposite; that the way this is organized, it's just going to be yet another old farts' top 10 Nintendo babby's first and most nostalgic vidya, with maybe a stray Deus Ex in there somewhere. That's a shame because the blackest retarded gorilla language model could write you that list in 7 seconds.

>mfw he doesn't know that every game outside of the top 10 will be immediately vaporized and removed from everyone's memories for all eternity

There's nothing stopping you creating your own tournament with blackjack and hookers if you don't like the way this one has been handled, but I think you'll find the more autistic restrictions and rules you place on what games are "valid" to be considered are going to drastically reduce participation.

Most people recognise this is just a bit of fun and a place to tell other users to kill themselves if they disagree over which game they played with their friends after school was the best.

True. I guess it just comes down to what game most people like the most and that's going to bias for nostalgia. 64 should be on top because it's just more fun though.

this but unironically
Nahhh Doom 1 is better than most pre 3d shooters but it's still pretty rough. And most of the levels are just not good

We all know why (( OP )) has foregone the adoption of a fully science-based true & honest system of criteria.
I didn't realize that this game was popular enough to make it as far as it did. I'm just happy it didn't lose first round.

Anyone who hasn't played it should go download the free version and relive my childhood for me.
