I'm 100% on board!

I'm interested in the idea, but after all I am an adult with a full-time job. I also don't work too well with others in creative projects unless there is clear instructions/leadership but that being said I don't know if you're looking for individual projects or a larger collaboration.
This also feels like something I'd drunkenly agree to thinking it was the best idea ever only to realize later that I had promised too much lol.

For artwork, I can do varied amount of styles, preferably, ALIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY (obsessed). Realism is also a second pick for me, but depends on my ADHD-ridding mind. Since you may know me as the workhorse autist behind the Anime request thread. I can also do neat lineart if I want to.

Hey Mr Jung, I will be grateful if you could work with me for this project for the next few months. I agree a theme will be very important for this zine. What about tales involving the iconic Kiwi of Kiwi Farms? Like have different genres or styles of comics with the commonality being the appearance of a Kiwi across all entries to tie it all together. A Kiwi is also relatively easy to draw - which I feel can give less experienced artists some confidence and take away stress with creating stories for the zine.

Failure is deeply common for these kinds of online collaborative efforts. I’ve experienced countless people flaking on projects due to real life responsibilities or disinterest. Game jams work because the responsibility lies on the devs themselves and no one else, so the structure of the comic jam has to be flexible to allow people to contribute in and out.

Do you want to have a comic anthology (separate comics compiled into one) or one yuge collaborative comic with great oversight? The structure, or otherwise submission rules need to be laid out clearly.

Comic anthology makes more sense in this case, cause if some people fall out, you can still compile completed comics into one.

Ok, gonna answer these questions right now so everyone here understands what my thoughts are, and so I know where to look if I forget what to add to the actual announcement thread.

Firstly, @Helarctos I completely understand. What I am looking for is standalone submissions - can be done by just one Kiwi or a group - continuity will be lax for this first Jam, the theme I just came up with is "Adventures with a Kiwi", so make of that what you will. As long as we follow a Kiwi doing stuff or going somewhere, that should fit the theme enough. Hope this explanation makes things more clear.

Secondly, @NaggotFigger I want this zine to have no style restrictions, so feel free to animay all you want.

Lastly, @WE'RE ALL GONNA and @Whatevermancer I agree it should be mostly a comic anthology, with the only constant in the entries for this one being the presence of a Kiwi character as a lead role. I am open to having a themeless Jam though, just letting Kiwis' imaginations fly - but conversely I think having a loose theme helps those stuck in a creative rut, gives them something to build off of, you know?

This is your call as the organizer. I think people will be okay with having a kiwi protagonist. As long as you keep your eyes open to how people feel about the theme, you can call the shots.

I just discussed briefly with Nihil and I think it would be more interesting if AI was not allowed for this Comic Jam... Will add that restriction when I make the actual Comic Jam thread.

you don’t want the notoriety when the KF comics jam is cited by trannies and furfags as PROOF POSITIVE that AI kills people and needs to be shut down now now now now etc?

This sounds like an awesome idea, and I’m surprised there hasn’t already been one of these tbh. This site has so many, uh, characters to draw inspiration from that I feel like it lends itself to this kind of project perfectly. I’d love to join in (god knows I need an excuse to shake the dust off the old drawing skills), but unfortunately I don’t think my current work schedule would allow for it; however, I think this might might inspire me to buy a drawing tablet for the next one if this takes off. I look forward to seeing what comes out of this though, there’s a lot of talented artists on this site!

Question are we all making one big comic, or you post like loss, and we have to redraw it in our own style? If it looks like the former, would it look like this?

Refer to my post here for what I would need from participants once the Comic Jam starts.

What is your stance on Comic Strips / Webcomics? Can I submit multiple 3 pannel gag comics instead of a single 3 page comic?

Hmm... I mean as long as you hit that minimum page amount, that can work? 🧐
Single page stories or w.e. is no problem as long as everything is sequenced well and they can be lumped together. The 4 page multiples thing is mainly a printing thing, but also helps figure out where "page turns" are incase something is revealed on a page turn or w.e. It also helps with stories starting on a right hand page, and ending on a left hand page, production stuff.

I'm 100% in, I'm a fan of zines and make both my own and contribute to others', do some comic work professionally, do demented crayon drawings while slightly drunk, etc...
It will be very helpful to have a set theme in mind but it doesn't have to be a very specific one, it can be something simple that helps contributors narrow down their idea.

I'd also agree that we should have a No-AI policy, even if you're not the best artist you can still make something fun. You can say it's "subversive outsider art" or something like that
