That's the only good thing about it.

The whole "tetris" inventory system, on the other hand, blows chunks. The computer chip system in ReCoded was more fun than that
Days and ReCoded are essentially mirrors of each other and work pretty well as compliments. Days has a decent story, but the gameplay is rough. ReCoded has a completely vapid narrative, but the gameplay is like BBS on crack.

I did enjoy Days, mainly liked the more grounded story with Roxas and getting to see the perspective of the Org, the story is probably the only real reason to play tbh; since the gameplay is rough around the edges and tedious. Recoded is inverse, where the gameplay is actually really good but the story is eh; I don't even remember what the hell happens besides something something data worlds and Data Sora.

Jimminy's book is completely blank after everything he wrote down in the 1st game, and the only page that has notes only says "Thank Namine", so they turn the book into a digital copy and it turns out the book has viruses which is why the pages are blank. They create a digital Sora to get rid of the viruses and bring the book back to how it was.

Essentially the gameplay is -yet another- rehash of the 1st game like Chain of Memories was except no card bullshit. The more noticeable thing is that Herculese world is a top-down RPG now.

And the reason why this all happened? Chain of Memories fuckery. Turns out RoXas and Namine are also in the book. The former fucks with digital Sora with riddles while the latter shows up in the end to explain everything to the Disney crew, including info on the 3 heroes from Birth By Sleep.

lol fucking what? Isn't the director supposed to know everything about his series like the back of his hand? This is the kind of shit people that don't want to play the games do.
Japanese dudes are not JRR Tolkien.

If anything this is actually a step above a lot of Japanese creatives who just make shit up as they go along and lie about things off-the-cuff, causing autism storms.

In other news the demo for raynatis came out and it's pretty good. Gives me nostalgic PS2 vibes. It wears its Versus/Twewy inspiration on its sleeves (there's an entire Twewy crossover questline) but I dig how it's doing its own thing with that kind of semi style. There's some kh DNA in it but not as much as I thought. It's leaning hard into that T rating.

Combat is interesting, it starts out basic but there's a unique mechanic that encourages dodging attacks to gain magic that fuels your weapons. Feels very PS2.

One thing that really stood out to me was the writing. This is probably the most unmoored I've ever seen Nojima. Just casually talking about death, magical crimes, profiling, drugs and cops in a world without a masquerade. World went sideways one day and everyone's gotta live with it. It was legit cool to see him go that hard.

The music is fantastic and has some pretty fresh vibes to it. Very versus coded and the same chick as kh and 15
