It's been a week since I finished the game but as I remember the only person who was mad with me was Henry's dead dad. Which is fair enough, he didn't want Henry to become a warrior anyway. And even then he was the guy you were allowed to say no, it was worth it to. He does scold you a bit for that but fuck him he is a retard. Zizka, Samuel, Katherine, Capon, all the others were cool with you getting revenge.you get struggle sessioned at least 7 (seven) times by different characters both tangible and intangible/imaginery for getting said revenge. This game is the same "revenge is bad" humiliation ritual as TLOU2 was dude. Youre being humiliated whether you enjoy it or not
It does not even compare to TLOU2 preachiness. That was the worst most retarded ending of all. I fucking hate the trope of killing 500 goons to reach the boss only to say killing the boss would make you just like them like no other. Even if you don't want revenge the game is sort of like Dishonored in that "sparing" people isn't exactly nice. You can't avoid killing Toth, only deny him the satisfaction of a duel, and if you let Markvart "live" he dies a cripple in bed. Toths butt buddy I didn't meet because I didn't give a shit about him raiding the Jewish quarter.
In the actual game itself it also contradicts the revenge is bad statement. In a quest for Katherine, you investigate a serial killer in Kuttenberg and find out it's a helicopter mom and her butler killing any woman her precious baby boy comes in contact with. Once you find out who done it Katherine wants to gut her on the spot, and you can let her have her revenge or take her to the authorities. If you take her to the authorities you later find out she only got house arrest and will probably kill again.
Overall yes you are somewhat right, in that the game wants you to believe that revenge is bad and you shouldn't seek it. But it also shows you the consequences of being a push over little bitch and gives you the freedom to say no. That's a hell of a lot more depth than TLOU2 gave.
