Absolutely. Most alcoholics look back in shame and can form bonds with each other just by talking about how long they've been sober. Any alcoholic knows how impossible it would be to quit if you had alcohol specifically for you to drink around. To struggle like that but purposely feed someone else's addiction when you know what it's like is pure evil. But like you said, considering he's a chomo I guess it makes sense that he's a sociopath.

Cobes was down in the dumps when Ozzy died and his zombie like state was just getting worse. At that point I would assume a responsible parent would have a better grip on the situation?

I'll be charitable and assume you're a tourist, so let me explain in good faith why this is a stupid take, for you and others unfamiliar with Cobes and Clint.

Cobes was an adult. A low-IQ, autistic adult, but an adult nonetheless, especially legally, really limiting what Clint could do for his son. More to the point, Cobes was stubborn to the point where it went past being just a personality trait and almost to the level of a personality disorder. Trying to make Cobes do anything would make him reflexively do the opposite, and do it hard, and do it for long periods of time. Cobes was retarded in the true sense of the word, as in he had the emotional and intellectual development of someone much younger than his biological age. It's not the same thing as stupidity, though Cobes was never going to bother MENSA much either. In the way that Cyrax is mentally about 10, Dan Larsen about 6, Cobes was about 14.

14-year-olds will do the opposite of what they are told. It's part of the process of growing up. Think of all the retarded shit you did at 14 just because you weren't supposed to. The law is set up to account for this. 14-year-olds can't drive, they can't buy alcohol, their parents or guardians can legally force them to do things, they can't move out on their own, because they're not responsible enough to do those things without killing themselves or someone else.

Thing is, though, Cobes had been 14 for the last 20 consecutive years, and for 16 of those years he has been a legal adult. Cobes was unfortunate in that he was too retarded to make good decisions, but not retarded enough for Clint to get a Conservatorship or something similar to keep him safe. You have to understand Clint's attitude and actions as the result of two decades of dealing with Cobes and growing to understand that there is nothing you can do to prevent his self-destrution. Between Cobes' instinctive defiance and the law coming down on Cobes' side, Clint has learned that there are limits to what he can do. Clint has other children and a life of his own. Having one family member who is a black hole of love and effort is a very difficult situation to be in. Cobes would take attempts to help him and spit them back in the face of whoever made them. And ultimately, Cobes is an adult, and Clint is entitled to a life of his own.

Clint isn't a perfect person, he's a bit of an oddball and maybe he didn't always make the right decisions. But I don't think he performed any worse as a parent to Cobes than any of us here would. Parenting Josh is parenting on ultra-hard mode, especially once they turn 18 and you can't force them to make good decisions. Many people criticise Clint and say he could have done more. But how much more? How much is too much? Josh has siblings who deserve love and time with their father and financial support as well, and Clint had to walk that tightrope. I think in all honesty he walked it well.

Clint is not an idiot. He knew deep down, maybe not very deep down, that Cobes was going to die young. I don't think he expected it to happen when it did, but few of us get to predict and anticipate our loved ones' death. Clint made huge efforts in particular to keep Josh housed, even buying him the last place when it became clear Josh couldn't be expected to show the maturity required to be a tenant. How many of us would do that for our kids, how many of us could say that our parents would do that for us? I don't think it's a very big number. Clint moved heaven and Earth for his son, who he clearly loved very much, despite Cobes fighting his help and never really showing any gratitude. To do that for 2 decades, to do your best to keep someone safe despite them fighting your attempts to do that, is love on the next level. I'm not going to PL, but I had to look after someone who did that. I tapped out after 18 months, and I was lucky enough to be able to do that and pass their care on to someone else because I needed to move on with my life and them with theirs. Maybe I feel for Clint because we've had to deal with something similar, but I can't imagine the self-discipline and endless wells of love and patience required to do that for 20 years. Especially when you know this is going to be the outcome.

So as for "getting a grip on the situation", what would you even suggest? He can't make him go to hospital, fuck, he couldn't even make him brush his teeth. There's never a good time to lose your son, but Cobes went out on his own terms as he was always going to. Clint is a flawed man like most of us, but you cannot say he didn't care about Josh.

if there was a heart issue and assuming the ER did their due diligence, checking his vitals, (EKG) more than likely they would have found an issue.
 
If you're boozing it up with cheap alcohol all the time it's going to wear on your heart and give you things like alcohol induced cardiomyopathy.
It wouldn't surprise me if he had that going on. And if you do then chugging 2 monsters is absolutely gonna make you feel like you're dying/panic attack.

This can cause heart issues like (alcohol induced) cardiomyopathy which can in some cases give you symptoms like panic attacks.
Maybe EKG can diagnose this i'm not sure, but typically I think you want an echocardiogram to see what's really going on.

I mean I can't say for sure it was cause of death, obviously. but it would surprise me if his heart was not in dire shape.

i'm talking about a time back from when he lived at home still. he drank two monsters and went to the hospital b/c he had a panic attack. i wasn't speaking on the current condition of his heart.

I remember that old video. It almost sounded like he had a seizure thr way he described it back then. Plus, wasn't it two double rockstar energy drinks or something, so it was more like he drank 4 energy drinks at once? That would fuck anyone up depending on how fast you drank them.

I only watched Cobes occasionally. Does anyone know how long he was on the Everclear/vodka diet? Because that would speed things up exponentially. He could have even had an acute alcohol overdose from that shit, especially if he thought he was building up a tolerance to it. I hope the toxicology results come back soon, if only to put a stop to the rampant speculation that has been going on.

People had been doordashing him vodka for quite along time, I want to say the giant vodka bottles started late last year but I don't remember for sure. I just remember the first time he got tons of vodka people were concerned and he got sick from it claiming he had a "cold and flu" as he called it. I don't recall seeing regular everclear until after Ozzy died though.

Electrolyte imbalance can cause sweating, which comes hand in hand with vomiting/diarrhea. Ask me how I know Just my own hospital stay the week before Cobes died

For the past three years really, if ever he showed up on stream sober, chat would say he’s pouting or boring and not so long after jugs of alcohol would show up.

Wish more people were passionate about stopping it then instead of after he’s gone.
