My take on the “Joke” videos: Josh is using Gray Rock Method to make trolls disinterested and unsubscribe.
I'm not saying it was his idea, but I do think that's what his goal is.
For anyone unfamiliar with Gray Rock Method, here's some info.

- avoiding interactions with the abusive person
- keeping unavoidable interactions brief
- giving short or one-word answers to questions
- communicating in a factual, unemotional way
The aim is to cause the abusive person to lose interest and stop their antagonistic behavior, to protect a person’s emotional well-being.
Now read that list in the context of his channel activity in the last few weeks.
I think he was told to do this for a month (or longer) to weed out the trolls with the shortest attention spans, who will get bored, unsub, and move on to a different cow. Then he will gradually start his old routine again, once he feels (or is told) that the attention has cooled down.
People suggesting everyone should unsubscribe are giving him exactly what he wants. He just wants his small core audience back who tell him what he wants to hear and don't pick on him.
FWIW, I am very sick of his joke videos, so if that’s what it is, it must be working.
