As she threatened, Kim posted another Kickstarter. However, her goal was even lower this time. When her previous Kickstarter failed, she mentioned possibly doing one for 400 dollars so as to get all the pledges her previous effort had received.

Apparently even that modest sum was a bit too pie-in-the-sky... or, to be more accurate, had a non-zero chance of also failing and thus depriving Kim once again of money she admitted to not even needing with which to finish a game she said was essentially already done.

It looks like she decided to go with an even more modest (and weirdly arbitrary) goal of $234 (edit: apparently this translates to 300 Canadian dollars and so isn't completely random) and I am "happy" to report that she met her goal yesterday!

With this, Kim seems to have found the key to Kickstarter scamming: set a low initial goal you know you'll meet and then you'll get to keep whatever amount does end up getting donated.

Jesus fucking Christ, this woman is shameless.
She's taken lessons from Dobby on ebegging. Set your shit low and you'll have some suckers reeled in like that even if some of them are trolls that will cancel their subscription.

Can I retry my project if funding is unsuccessful?
Yes. You can always try again and relaunch with a new goal, whenever you're ready. You’ll need to set your project up from scratch, but it can be essentially identical if you choose.

Just click on the green “Start a project” button and start building. Your original project is always available for reference, so feel free to copy/paste any content that hasn't changed.

So it turns out it's not against the rules. Good grief.

To be fair to Kickstarter, that rule exists so that companies can restructure the campaign and bring it back later with better developed goals. Not to get too deep into it, but I've been a part of Kickstarter projects for board games where the initial campaign failed but it got enough interest behind it that they found a publisher to work with and they were able to relaunch it with a different goal.

However, what Kim's doing is certainly nothing close to that. She's just wanting to scam people out of a couple hundred dollars.

Surely there must be some sort of rule against doing the exact same Kickstarter twice. I mean that's just begging to be scammed, which is exactly what's happened here.

They don't care so long as they get a cut of the scambux.

Which will, I think, eventually bite these hipster welfare/scam sites in the ass.

Just not over some two-bit grifter scamming for enough to buy some crack.

Crosspost. Kengle x Kim Crawley. Yuck.

Because that's what people want in a game: managing some self-insert's mental illness.

Honestly, that whole aspect feels really insensitive. If I were struggling with PTSD or anorexia I certainly wouldn't want to play a game where it's been trivialized into a mechanic.
Seriously, I don't even have those illnesses and just the idea of gamifying anorexia makes me uncomfortable

Wow, I've been reading through this and it's just... like incredible.

She's like that cringy 14 yr old that says they are totes a legit hacker, and it's all just a made up persona after one night when they binged on Hackers and The Matrix. It's like she's frozen in time at that exact point mentally.

And I just can't believe the amount of work you put in to attempt this sort of e-begging and scamming when if you put that same amount of energy somewhere else you could actually go somewhere with it. Is she that stupid?

Someone has to do a serious interview with this woman and see how she actually functions in the real world.

Oh honey, you don't look nearly as young as you think you do. And if you feel the need to put down your husband to try to make yourself feel better, you have some serious issues.
And that lipstick! Gah!
