The fact that they're willing to admit they fucked up and delay the game gives me some hope. Not a whole lot, but some.
>Embracer Group acquired Tripwire Interactive on August 18, 2022

>Tripwire Interactive made a deal with Epic Games to release Maneater exclusively on the Epic Games Store for a year in January 2019.

>They also switched from steamworks to epic servers sometime around 2019-2020 for KF2 and RS2:V

>Edited: They fired their CEO for being anti-abortion as well as a weapon animator for his politics on X (Thanks Miller, I forgot about that)

>rumors of other skilled people leaving or being fired for political opinions

>The company liked to take paid cruises and paid vacations with their employees so they probably needed money so they sold out.

>The game is likely a hero shooter Tripwire scrapped and recycled into KF3.

This explains the dip in quality.

KILLING FLOOR
Dear Killing Floor Fans,
We've made the decision to postpone Killing Floor 3's launch to an undecided date later in 2025.
After taking the time to gather and discuss feedback from our recent closed beta, we've realized that we missed the mark. Our goal isn't just to make Killing Floor 3 an ambitious step forward for the franchise, but also to maintain the core experience that you've come to know and love.
With the full support of our parent company Embracer Group, we're working together on a timeline to address many of the common issues players had during the beta, including performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel. While it's too early to say which fixes will be implemented by launch, we can confirm that an update allowing you to independently select your perk class and character is planned for post-release.
We look forward to another opportunity to show you a more polished version of Killing Floor 3, and when we're ready to share more details, you will be the first to know. Until then, we thank you for your continued patience and overwhelming support. Sincerely,
The Tripwire Interactive Development Team
I hope they make the game better.
Embracer group leaves the bodies of saints row and payday 3 in their trail. No way in hell am I gonna buy this. Anything involved with embracer group is straight up BUNS.

My hopes for this game is in the dumpster, the only way to save it is have custom maps which doesn't seem likely at all.

I've been playing KF2 recently and it's really fun. The only thing I can't stand is the way the cosmetics are monetized (the shitty USB drive gimmick).

I'm tempted to set up a steamcmd server on my computer so I can relive the beta days of fucking around on custom maps with randoms.

One thing I appreciated in KF2 was: you can switch weapons when reloading. In fact, if I remember well, you could switch weapons when you did 70-75% of the animation and still reload, so you would constantly reload and switch guns. Not a thing in KF1. I usually expend ammo on gun1, then switch to gun2 in most cases. edit for shameful grammar

In KF2 you can cancel the reload animation halfway by just melee bashing.

The cosmetic shop is funny because literally nobody cares about it. Every skin is 3 cents if you really want something.

I have a thing for deer so seeing that there was a deer makeup cosmetic for that one tumblr Grease bitch made me want it. I cheated to get as many loot crates from prestiging as possible, as well as re-rolling all crates that wasn't the cosmetic I wanted. I got like 10 rare things for characters I didn't own but not the one I wanted. I think I went through more than 100 crates. Shit game.

Unironically, would them just reverting to make KF2 dlc work out? KF2 sorta played out like Payday, and after all those failed Starbreeze projects, they just went back to PD2.

I think the crate shit is supposed to push you to trade with players. Rolling for a very specific items sounds like a pain. The only comsetics I used were a beanie and sunshades that I randomly got. Never bothered buying the keys.

I bought the Ultimate Edition upgrade because I wanted Mrs. Foster (she is voiced by Claudia Black).
There is also a random drop system when you play daily but it's mostly crap. I think I got the same skin 4 times for a gun that I never use.

Yeah that's what I thought too, but the game is pretty much dead and nobody buys the crates on the market. As for the USB drive/crates, I don't buy keys, I just let them pile up.

Nearly nothing changed in KF3 since my last post here from what little I could play. I get that it's a stress test, but jesus it's bad when I can only play two runs of the thing over an hour and a half. Gunplay went from "shovelware Roblox game" to "bottom-tier COD game", as they just added ridiculious amounts of screenshaking and recoil to guns, along with head-bobbing as you reload.

TW has repeatedly lied about reworking the fundamental problems of the game all along, as they opt instead to get them to work out at all costs. I fully expect the game to be DOA on release; they legit looked at the fiasco that was Payday 3, and doubled-down thinking it'd work.

It's complete ass. The game really feels like it's still in really early alpha.

Guess i'm waiting for a sale after a ton of QoL and optimization patches.
Yeah, same.
They have made a game for consoles. It uses UE5 so it runs like shit, it's matchmaking only (no community servers), no text chat, welding tool replaced by a multi-tool that isn't part of the loadout, limited number of syringes, etc.
The medic feels useless, there's a lack of feedback when you heal another player, the primary weapon doesn't have rechargeable syringes. The gunplay is really bad, it feels like playing with Nerf guns.

That's an actual fucking shame. Killing Floor 3 was one of the few games I was looking forward to at the start of this year and I started to have my doubts after seeing that initial footage and feedback. To hear nothing has changed of the gameplay loop and mechanics will probably put me off from buying it unless I can get it heavily discounted and/or my friend group picks it up and decides to play it consistently. Too many cases of "Yo Spider, Super Game Fun Extreme just dropped, get this shit and come play with us" only for the group to abandon the game in a week and repeat the cycle.

Killing Floor as a franchise is probably one of my favorite co-op experiences. The games aren't perfect and I have my gripes between them, but few games have offered me the level of enjoyment in time spent with others. Definitely a lot of fond memories laughing and running from Fleshpounds in Ventrilo. I much prefer the darker and grittier atmosphere of the first game to the second, and seeing the third moving even further into sci-fi shit is a turnoff. I'm also not a fan of the cheesy Christian metal soundtrack in the second game (as Hank Hill once said, "you're not making rock and roll better, youre making Christianity worse") but they serve as fine instrumental tracks with the lyrics disabled. Nothing beats that iconic Zynthetik sound.

On an unrelated note, if anyone is looking for a fun co-op shooter, I'd recommend giving Mycopunk a shot.

It's a 4 person co-op shooter that plays similar to Deep Rock Galactic in terms of mission structure. As the name implies, the game is themed around mycology, or the study of fungus. The main unique gameplay gimmick is that enemies will move around the map and attach various limbs and weapons to themselves, sometimes attaching limbs that were removed from other enemies. The individual parts can be destroyed to break them off from the core they're attached to. Destroying the enemy's core will kill it and dismantle it, but any parts left over can be picked up by other enemies, so it's important to destroy dangerous limbs either while they're attached or once they drop them. The things they attach include claws, exploding pods, lasers, shield generators, acid spewers, the works. As you can imagine, enemies left unchecked in higher difficulties can lead to them forming into hulking masses of weapons.

There are 8 weapons in the game that all have their own unique mods that effect how they operate down from something as small as a bigger magazine or faster fire rates to mods that completely change how the weapon fundamentally functions. These mods are arranged in a grid and shaped like DNA pieces. Mods for the characters work the same way, except character specific mods are unlocked via a skill tree. There are also generic mods that can freely be used between characters that offer things like damage resistant or movement buffs. The game and it's small team of devs have a lot of charm to it and you can tell it was made by people who actually like video games. It's currently $15 in EA on Steam with plans for a price increase on official release.

I forgot KF3 was coming out and the only thing of note it has produced is the snark videos calling it shit
Ill just return to old reliable KF1, L4D and Vermintide for my coop zombie fix i guess
