I genuinely thought this game was being made by a completely different studio.
i thought about it all day. this youtube comment i screencapped on as i'm drifitng off to dreamland goes with what i've been considering. i have done zero research to substantiate the comment but scrapped assets for a shitty hero shooter being taped together and being called "Killing Floor 3" seems to be the most reasonable outcome.
hmm.jpg

edit: considering all these fucking retards had to do was make shotguns, a flame thrower, an AK and an AR, and some rocket launchers look good to shoot a zombie ass nigger with in a video game in this day and age killing floor 3 may rightfullly sit upon the cock throne of shame for the biggest vidya pants shitting of the new millennium. think about the hype and emotion as KF2 was in early access and compare it to now. video games are done for dude.

Going through a bunch of videos about KF3, literally the only one not doing the "it's a beta, bro" cope is fucking marioinatophat.
It's amazing how game developers keep pulling the same tactic of releasing a "beta" a month from release and people keep excusing it.
It's been over a fucking decade and we still have people who haven't learned that the "open/closed beta" is just a glorified marketing stunt.
And even when said beta is objective fucking dog shit, you have retards literally saying you should still preorder because "they'll totally fix it".

KF1 made scary places that also happened to be really colorful.
I wish KF3 had something more than "KF-BioticsLab" three times over.

I really like the fan's overcast!

I like the red lights and blue overcasts to the right!

I really like this lead-up into a green section!
KF1 had area-based filters and ENV triggers depending on the map for extra fiddlyness which is really fun to mess around with in the SDK.

Bryan Wynia's eldritch, reptilian, non-human, sci-fi-inspired character-focused art turned from an "additional art" credit in KF2 and a senior artist position at ID for Doom 2016 to Trip-Wire's creative lead for KF3.
The zeds are certainly his own. I'm unsure if the environments are a product of his sci-fi-inspired "function over form" or a limitation as to how many unique assets they were scoped in to create.

Using Payday 3 as an example, I'd wager sunken cost would inhibit them from changing anything back to the way people liked it.

Lol they even added the Doom like finishers. In a way, this game is itself a zed, put together from bunch of different games.

And ngl, it does look fun in a way, just not KF way. Call it something else and I might even enjoy it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the gameplay, but I was never a fan of the futurizing they been doing with kf. I prefer the more darker laboratories of kf 1 and earlier kf 2 maps. Also reminds me of mobile zombie games like dead trigger 2 or something.

I'm just finding this out now. Why the fuck did this "beta" have a fully functional MTX shop active?!
Also, make sure you're not drinking anything before you unspoiler the below:
You can't weld doors closed anymore.

Fuck off. Just rename the game to Murder Ground or some shit. Did anything that makes KF unique even get carried into the game?
It gets worse... much worse...
There are 9 damage types against 4 enemy types with 12 status effects. How the fuck is anyone supposed to remember all that.
Healing is also worse. Healing syringes are self-use only, healing is limited to three, needing to buy syringes, and medic guns with no healing darts.

Welp, looks like its time to load KF1 back up. The last thing I would associate with KF is a hero shooter, but that's what it looks like they want. /shrug

The KF2 Beta that released almost 10 years ago with 4 classes, had a handful of maps and weapons, ran on an older version of the unreal engine, and had light modding/custom map support was more polished than this.

I see way too many people say "i will wait a year till it gets enough updates" or "it's not a bad game, it just needs X and Y". It's pathetic. Those consoomers are the reason why slop like this even sees the light of day. It's flawed at the very core and no amount of updates will make the game good.

They game devs could create a quantum singularity that allowed them to work 8000 hours a day for a year working on bug fixes, and that won't fix the core issue that the game itself is fucking bad at it's core. Scrap the entire thing, start from scratch, and anytime anyone mentions anything along the lines of "maybe we should see how *AAA game** did it", beat that man with a stick.

Due to the nature of technical debt this game is basically unfixable. Very few companies can make a good game anymore.

All this shit can be traced back to No Man's Sky and FF14 with their "redemption arc". Never mind that the only reason those games got "redeemed" is because not updating their game would have led to the developers fucking dying. A fact that a number of people seem to outright ignore.

There are many things in KF3 i could complain about, but i just want to rant about one thing i see people defending and i just don't know why: The 50-year time skip from KF2 to 3.
Some argue its a good thing, since we are nearing the end of the story, and thus need to move away from being on the losing side and into being on the winning side. Okay, sure. But why a 50-year time skip?
If i was in charge of the story progression from 2 to 3, i would have made the time skip a 5-year one, max.

-After Hans dies, the Patriarch goes into hiding.
-Horzine is hellbent on finding the Patriarch, ignoring the Matriarch and letting her do whatever.
-She uses this time to continue her fathers work, mixing Zeds with EDAR tech, creating unholy abominations of metal and flesh

There. Continues off where KF2 ended, has the players on the winning side since they really just need to find Patriarch and Matriarch and it gives a reason as to why there are scifi-Zeds AND gives an explanation for the new weapon attachment system. You could say Horzine is reverse-engineering the new Matriarch tech to create new attachments for your weapons. Also ties into why you need to kill Zeds and destroy stuff on the maps to get components for weapon upgrades.

Also on the topic of weapons, i am no developer. Lines of code are just gibberish to me. But is there an actual reason as to why the developers can't re-use animations from KF2?
