The greyscale color palate is to remind you this is a horror game.

More seriously, KF3 appears to have a list of stuff that sounds great on paper (immersive hub area! expanded resource management! new zed abilities!) but without the aesthetic to tie the whole experience together, it ends up tasting like a bowl of grey gruel. In some circles it was a popular assertion that gameplay was the only thing that mattered in a video game, and this is a case study in why that's misguided. In the first game, one of my favorite details was the plot blurb given for each map. They weren't "functional," pretty cheesily written for the most part, but they served a vital function: telling me why I'm here in this virtual world doing the things I'm doing. Maybe it just wasn't shown in the video, but I saw hardly a lick of narrative between those slick dropship scenes, and no reason to care about what's happening on the screen. Paper thin excuse plots are one of those little things you don't understand the impact of until it's gone.

KF3 looks like garbage. It's impressive how so many franchises have worse gameplay now, 15 years later.

i'm not shocked that the same company that fucked the previous title is unable to make anything worthwhile to play, and this probably will add to the myriad of issues that will come when it releases since it most likely will be led by similiar retards that fucked kf2 in the ground

KF2 is still a great game, but adding robots that fucked with the feeling and gore system of the game was the beginning of the end. KF3 looks like a discount Black Ops Zombies mode sadly.

From what I could personally test, he's not even cherrypicking footage: what you see are your average multiplayer runs. Beyond that, here's are my very own observations if that interests any of you:

GENERAL GAMEPLAY:

- The hero-shooter active skill system actively ruins having to rely on teammates or skill with your perk's arsenal, and can even contribute at griefing takedowns (e.g. mandos Foster easily blasting away entire crowds or big zeds with his drone).

- Hipfire gunplay operates on random spread instead of a fixed spray pattern like the previous titles did, meaning that you're permanently ADS unless you're at point blank.

- The inventory weight system has been replaced with a generic inventory of two guns, your sidearm (which, by the way, doesn't even feature a proper replacement to the 9mm), and a "tool" slot that has you pay for your fucking welding tool.

- Since you can't carry more than two primary guns, offperking a medic gun without breaking your economy or build is nearly impossible. Medics have become mandatory.

- Weapon variety is non-existent for a game several years in the oven.

- You have a limited quantity of healing syringes you have to refill every time you go to the trader. Clutch plays where surviving players hang on for dear life syringe in hand are now gone.

- You seemingly auto-heal at the trader, negating any semblance of team management as a medic or an off-perking mando during trader time.

- Money's abundant even in high difficulties.

- Instead of being an asset or a resource to extract the most value out of, zed time effectively makes you a speedhacking turbo-god that can effortlessly kite big zeds and wipe entire crowds.

- Movement poorly clones Warzone, and adds dashes (which you have no choice but to use, more on that later).

ARTIFICIAL DIFFICULTY:

- Husks have become tanks that are near-impossible to kill through headshots, perpetually hide their backpacks and now spawn sprinting at full speed towards players instead of peppering them with fireballs first.

- Bigger zeds and bosses have zero downtime or calm state, SCs included. It's very common to see FPs and SCs freaking out and charging you on sight despite having done nothing to them.

- This also applies to bosses, which you cannot reposition effectively against, and force you to use the janky new moveset to dodge attacks. Unless you're cheesing bossses around static map props like in KF2, you are nearly guaranteed to get hit if you refuse to dash and slide around. On that topic, bosses feel spongier and less reactive to damage.

- All of the above means you can't hold positions, and have to perpetually kite around laughably small maps.

AESTHETICS:

- Absolutely nothing about it screams "Killing Floor"; If anything, it feels like I'm playing a mobile clone of COD:Zombies.

- From the music to the presentation, KF3 doubles down on KF2's blockbuster-ish presentation. Ambience is gone.

- Gunplay feels and sounds garbage. The guns look like Fallout 4 rejected designs, and yes, it's as horrible as it sounds. It feels like everything about it has been designed to fuck with gun nerds.

- Survivors have even less personality than KF2's, and that's already a low bar. Dialogue basically boils down to swearing or one-liners in foreign languages.

- Ok, so Hans and all of his clones are dead or something, but where's the Patriarch? What are those boss-blob things crapping magic circles replacing him in fights? Compared to Patty or Hans, those things are unbelievably boring.

OTHER:

- My game installed itself in my native tongue instead of English despite my Steam client telling otherwise, and there's no way to change languages, meaning that my UI is further fucked up both because of obvious mis-translations and overlapping text.

- You can't drop guns to teammates, but I also can't tell if this is because I didn't re-bind the right key: not only are menus ugly and soulless, but also clunky and hard to read.

- Everything is handled through a matchmaking system. Custom maps, gamemodes, difficulties and servers are dead.

- Game performance is abysmal.

All and all, a solid 7/10. I might've overlooked things since I'm kinda drunk right now.

Is this what people mean when they say UE5 games all look like soulless garbage? Nothing I've seen so far feels like KF. They're making me miss the days when Alex was the only person working on it and Patriarch was "Coming soon™"

Payday 3: Dogshit.
Killing Floor 3: Dogshit.
And you fuckers wonder why GabeN stops at two?

There should legally be a split between KFM/1+2 and whatever this abomination is. They should not legally be allowed in the same conversation. KFM (started as a UT2 mod) was good, KF1 was great, KF2 has some issues at first but expanded upon it greatly by the end. This looks like hot garbaje. I have to pronounce it in RE4 villagerese because I want this shit away from the English tongue. That's how bad this fucking shit is.

What the apex legends hell is this? lol

They are clearly chasing normies with this, but frankly, I am fine with it. I never even played the second one, even though I claimed it for free on Epic. First one still feels and looks good to me and this guarantees that there will still be og players on the server.

Here's another video from someone who played the beta:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=NqTK4i7R_jQIt really is a checklist of all the things that are in [current year] gaming, they even have crafting and specialists...
You can run away from a FLASHPOUND? It is so over.

The stages of the game will be based on battles that actually happened in modern English history

So here's a giant enemy....fuck whatever. Attack its weak points for massive damage.

man i didn't see any gameplay of KF3 until now and i wish i didn't. it actually made me sad as if it was someone i love becoming a crackhead.

I love that because of the warzone movement bullshit retrofitted into KF gameplay that The Fleshpound - the iconic ‘oh shit’ moment when one turns the corner with his big metal diaper - is now a complete joke as you can just slide away at 90 mph and he will never catch up

Back in my day, we had the whole crew call out their spawns so we could light those fuckers up with everything before he killed some of us. He worked hard for that Viking funeral.

Kids nowadays are just going to 360 bunny hop slide around him, and ruin his honor.

Won't somebody think of the children fleshpounders

The more I look at KF3, the more I want to play KF1 and KF2. Hell, I even found a guy on YouTube, DeathlyUdders, who still plays KFM 2.5 with a dedicated fanbase and streams it.

This game was sadly never going to be made for us. It looks alright gameplay wise, but it has no charm, bland designs, ugly guns and no funny brit voices. From the same franchise that had the Harry Enfield character in 1 and Gary Busey Santa in 2...

Mark my words, there will be a Payday 3 Jacket situation where they bait players with either DJ Scully or Sgt. Masterson (CEO Alan Wilson) "specialist" packs. Sadly, that part of the fanbase doesn't like their core game.
