I liked the combat mechanics in kf3 especially for berserker, since it's like a faster (or was I guess) dead island - and the static strikers can animation cancel bash to create a wall so that's nice. Though the healing bat was way too good to pass up on solo runs.

I hope in kf3 berserker finally establishes it's 'up-close area denial/dps' shit by giving it an actual life steal. Or a healing fist.
It's frustrating, because I feel very inarticulate when I try to describe how I felt playing it. I enjoyed the build up to release, would check out all the videos and articles discussing things like the advances in the gore system, the environments, the new music style. Then it came out out, and I played it, recognized it as a fun, good game...but just didn't want to keep playing. I could never really pinpoint why.
Because it feels like a multiplayer lobby of an actual game instead of the actual game itself. So something you'd play with your friends after liking single player so much, akin to Halo.

But there's no single player campaign.

Oh, what I would give for Killing Floor to return to the first game's grungy horror aesthetic. Sadly, it looks like Tripwire are doubling down on the gaudy sci-fi look for the third game. I wonder what they intend to accomplish with a third entry, given how incredibly simplistic the gameplay loop is.

Gotta have something to show for all that microtransaction money besides Chilvary 2. As much as people would like to believe, KF2 isn't an evergreen game. I have close to 500 hours on Killing Floor 2 and have been playing on and off since release, and I kinda get what people mean about not hating the game, but not neccesarily enjoying it either.

While I enjoy some of the new ZED behavior and bosses, I agree that it just doesn't feel quite as gritty as the first. DLC weapons have been a steady power creep and some classes have always been able to hold their own or even carry. With the exception of Hell on Earth and some Suicidal matches, people have kinda given up on the meta of welding doors and setting up choke points. It's much more run and gun, and the randomness of the enemy spawns doesn't help much. Enemies don't feel as intimidating as they used to be. The addition of Quarterpounds really took any pucker factor out of seeing Fleshpounds, especially when you can gun it down before it even charges.

One of the biggest issues I have with KF2 is the crate system. Spending $2.50 a pop at a chance to POSSIBLY get something you might even remotely want is a scam, especially when those very same skins end up on the community marketplace later for like 60 cents. Granted, the game is relatively generous with straight skin drops, but naturally these aren't going to be as detailed or appealing as crate skins. I never liked them in TF2 or Counter Strike, I don't feel any different about them here.

Crate skins add nothing to the game but they don't take away anything either. Especially since you get some okay looking ones from rank ups and drops. I liked the game, got a few hundred hours into it, but if I'm being honest it's been years since I touched it, and there isn't much that makes me want to come back to it. Can't really put my finger on it either but it I had to take a stab at it, at the end of the day people are just burn out. KF II is just more of the same as the first, but with changes that only serve to water down the experience. Quarter pounder for example adds nothing outside of the boss battle where they can get spammed by the boss, and it doesn't fucking help that they didn't make new lines for them, from what I remember they still scream Fleshpound when they arrive.

I feel KF got too cartoonish after the first one and this one looks no different. A LOT of things about KF2 left a bad taste in my mouth so I think I'd be skipping this one entirely unless I see different. I have several hundred hours in both games too, which means its sad to not want to try this one but that's just the direction Tripwire went. The dev politics are a whole other bag of worms too.
Isn't this the same studio that fired a guy for having very milquetoast conservative views on abortion, a senior dev or manager no less? If so, I will avoid this studio's games at all costs. I can't trust people that do something like that to make a good product at all.

Yes. Their official discord and mod community is also rife with nepotism. This can be outlined here with the kind of crap that goes on:

All in all I'm not going to support TW anymore.

so guys do you remember when tripwire released this short film called Killing Floor: Uncovered?

basically it's a bunch of idiot investigators going into a horzine facility, start the zed apocalypse, and get themselves killed. they should have just showed one of the playable characters like constable briar or gary glover surviving attacks from zeds and make it out at the time it was starting.

have you guys seen videos from a youtube channel called Resistant Films? they made fan made videos of killing floor and i found them to be way more entertaining than what tripwire rolled out

the costumes looked faithful. and they included the sounds and gun shots from the game. you can bet on fans to make better content than the developers.

I remember the mod being awesome, and the first game was really fuckin’ good. The second was alright when I first got it, but after a while I liked it less and less and eventually Tripwire started to piss me off, mainly started with the crates and DLCs and shit. I’m never buying a game from then again, but interested to see how the third one will look (and how they’ll fuck it up lmao).

Also one thing I notice that not too many people talk about is the soundtrack. Killing Floor’s soundtrack kicks fucking ass.

Killing Floor 2’s feels so fuckin’ lame to me, I don’t know why.

all of the series' soundtracks were done by zynthetic. he also voices the series' main villain, the patriarch

so since it's october i wanna talk about the halloween event. @Mr.Miyagi

back in KF1, before the hilbilly zeds. there were these halloween sideshow zeds. they're basically recolored and reskined summer sideshow zeds to fit the Halloween aesthetic. lol

they later on made something original. the hilbilly zeds. i found them hilarious. especially their dialogue with the fleshpound and the patriarch.

THEY TOOK OUR JOBS, I TOOK THEIR LIVES!! LOL

anyway, kf2 halloween zeds. i think they look good.

basically, hans is dracula, the scrake is frankenstein, siren is frankenstein's bride, husk is a knight, the gorefasts are mummies and gorefiends are pharaoh mummies. slashers are werewolves. crawlers are plant monsters from little shop of horrors, the patriarch is Mr. Hyde, the fleshpound and king fleshpound are creature from the black lagoon, etc.

i think the kf2 halloween zeds look cool.

I always liked the holiday stuff KF had, felt like the devs were having fun with it, leaning into the more pulpy/campy sort of stuff with enemy designs and maps and whatnot. Stuff like the Summer Sideshow. Felt a bit like TF2's holiday stuff, a chance to put something new in the game without worrying too much about how it might clash, given that it's a limited time/limited scope. I'll probably end up giving KF2 another go around this month, after my usual yearly rituals of FEAR and stuff. It's certainly been a long time.

Killing Floor 2 is a monstrous 80-90 GB so I bought Killing Floor 1 for like 10$. KF1 is essentially dead and the way I had my fun was by loading up an online KF mod by the name of “bots mutator” and cranking the friendly bot count to 20 while raising all the total Zeds spawned.
It’s comfy offline play that reminds me of a packed modded lobby of Nexon-Zombies, back when it had a community (which was buck broken by the developers merging a server and giving players a month notice to claim their expensive pay to win items or else their gone).
PS: Underestimated the charging dual drill flesh-pound in KF1, assuming it was a pushover like in KF2; I died. KF1’s atmosphere is amazing and feels like a really good old source game despite lacking some of the polish seen in 2.

@Mr.Miyagi since its currently summer. lets talk about the series'm summer event. the summer sideshow

the event takes on the circus and steampunk themes. with the zeds taking on the appearances of circus freaks and performers.

so the crawler is a conjoined twins, bloat is an obese clown called pukey the clown, the husk is a mechanical robot, gorefast is a sword swallower, siren is a bearded lady, scrake is a monkey man, fleshpound is a strongman, and the patriarch is the ringmaster.

i found the monkey man scrake to be pretty disturbing. one of his quotes is "and not a single fuck was given that day!" LOL.

the maps were cool. the first one was called abusement park. and then the next year's map was hellride. and then the next summer map was steamland which is the steampunk map. and it introduced the new gamemode to the games, Objective Mode. and if you complete achievements, you can unlock steampunk versions of mr foster and mrs foster.

it came back in KF2, with some skins changed. like the husk.

and the music is also great. zynthetic continues to impress.

also. news on killing floor 3. i checked out the steam page and it says it takes place in the year 2091. so it takes place in the future and i see that mr. foster is cominbg back, but this one is probably a descendant of the first one. i dont how theyre gonna do this in that year, feels like they wanna go with the cyberpunk theme more.

I heard that they're adding character abilities in KF3. I was already turned off by the cyberpunk setting with the generic backstory of "evil corporation takes over the world" and the edgy squad name "Group Nightfall" or whatever it was. Character abilities turn me off more since it means that once the meta is discovered, you'll probably have to play as a character you don't like in order to be viable in higher difficulties.

In both games, what perks did you play the characters with? In KF1, I always play Cpl Lewis most of the time, but sometimes do Berserker with the riot cop and Medic with the uncovered face soldier. In KF2, I usually played Reverend Alberts with Berserker, Mr Foster with Support and Flamebug, DJ Scully with Medic, the French girl with Demolitionist, the Classics with SWAT and Commando, Sharpshooter and Gunslinger with the Norwegian guy and Survivalist with DAR.

Before they finish up with KF2, I really want them to add a classic mode that removes all the new zeds they added like the gas crawler, the double blade guys who block your shots, the rioters, the quarter pounders, the robots, probably some others they added. I hate those enemies. Also reduce the fucking file size.

I like KF1 & 2 but KF3 teasers and pre-alpha footage did not impress me so far.
