This could also maybe explain why Subaru man didnt want to say waht she did for a living. Perhaps in Michigan she did something very weird and specific and he didnt want to give that out because he knew it would make it so people could find her because its such a niche job. My theory is that Kat is on SSI because she's crazy due to her messed up family and I'm confident she's on benzos every time we've seen her. There has been no concrete evidence for or against Kat being involved with substance abuse. There is however evidence of a history of Kat being physically and emotionally abused as a child. The last I heard, a couple years ago, the DSM (the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders) was in a debate over adding "adverse childhood trauma" (ACT) as a new addition. Many people with mental issues have ACT, but that is just a correlation and not a rule. Many people with ACT can lead normal lives just as many combat veterans can have PTSD and still function normally.

Now I'm no expert, but seeing as Kat was in an abusive household for a length of time which led to the children being taken away by the state would probably be classified as ACT. This may be speculative, but what we definitely know is Kat has had mental health issues by evidence of a court ordered mental health stay.

It would be easy to assume Kat's issues were related to her mental health. Multiple disorders have poor decision making or rash and reckless behaviour as symptoms. Meeting Phil online and flying across America to meet him may fit into one of those categories, as would moving in with a man you've met thrice or marrying a man you've known for only a year.

If I had to guess what Kat's difficult thing she was going through, I would guess it was involved with an issue revolving around her mental health.

It's a story as old as time, two people who are incapable of the emotional depth to feel love for another human being were having their relationship with their SO's breakdown and were stressed about the idea of losing the person they had used as a security blanket for years to hide from their broken lives.
Then, as their SO's grew increasingly fed-up with their physical and emotional non-participation in the relationship, their stars aligned over a Tweet about an OBS crash as the beady-eyed Pigroach realized he may have found yet another fangirl. Phil has never told us specifically what that referred to, but if I recall he specifically said that they had 'both been going through a similar difficult time that we helped each other through' and from this I would infer that Katherine was having to microwave her own Hungry Man dinners as well seeing as SubaruMan claimed recently he 'lol, I always did all the cooking'. . .or maybe both their long-term relationships were falling apart after a marriage proposal or something. There are things that have been gathered about her timeline, but with his pathologic lying, revisionist history, and general babbling bullshitery it's anyone's best guess as to what Phil was referring to there. Occasionally Phil baits that someday, when they feel comfortable, they will reveal the story of how they met because 'it was very special' and I think he's right, it was retarded.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if "she's going to work/at work" is just his blanket statement about her because he's afraid of THE TROLLS coming after her or what ever. I just think she's a bit of a gold-digger at worst (and if Phil's telling the truth and she's actually working, maybe not even so much that) and the rest of it is being colored by the very understandable question of "who in their right mind would be able to stand Phil Burnell?".

Phil likely put a lot of pressure on her too, as she was the justification for staying in a house he can't afford. Plus his roundabout manner of presenting her led to the escort saga. And potentially lose the source? No. It is actually entirely possible that she got another job since she got to Washington. I'm kind of under impression now that she might have quit/been fired from Kohl's, and started somewhere else. The source said her previous job in Michigan was at Kohl's, and the claim was she just transferred to another one in Washington (Phil's claim, so you know what that means)

I apologize for saying that she FOR SURE works there, but given the info we have from Phil, if she did just transfer, it was to Kohl's.
