Judas - Or how Ken Levine learned to stop caring and made Bioshock in space

It's not bad at all. They basically dropped the roguelike thing during development (it still procedurally assembles city blocks or something but you won't care) but the gameplay is decent and the story gets kinda good (I think, idk it's been a while). The first guy probably won't blow your mind but it's the juxtaposition of how the three different characters survive in the world that makes it kinda neat.

At full launch price no, but I'd say it's worth playing at this point if you need some shit to play.

New story trailer just came out:
(archive)

No release date has been announced yet. Judas is supposed to be out no later than March 2025.

Can you give the links (with archives) to these stories? I had never heard of Ghost Story Games.
The main news story that got everyone talking about it was this one (archive) by Jason Schreier at Bloomberg. Ghost Story Games is the name Irrational Games rebranded to when they laid off most of the studio after Bioshock Infinite was finished. No games have been released under the new studio name. The stories of Ken Levine being a bad manager go back to before Bioshock Infinite was released over 10 years ago. I might put together a list of them if I can remember where to find them and cite sources.

Infinite is .... out of the line. The gameplay is beyond shitty, the plot collapses on itself at warp speed (it needed retcons in its DLCs when Levine realized he made the POC revolutionary into a bloodthirsty hypocrite and the Rapture parts manage to cripple even more the shaky internal coherence of mutant-slug-libertarian-paradise). It's beyond me how people manage to like it.
The only thing I liked about Bioshock Infinite was the setting, you often don't get 1900s Progressive-era America explored in major games (RDR is an exception, but it skirts that realm by setting it in the frontier).

Usually the 1900s either get overshadowed by the 19th century, or glommed into WW1.

Yeah a lot of big game news outlets were giving it perfect scores. This review by Adam Sessler was peak games journalism:

Matthewmatosis did a great job picking apart all the flaws with Infinite:

My prediction for this game is it will have good art design, a story that thinks it is way smarter than it actually is, and below average core gameplay.

It seems like Ken Levine should be a Creative Director and not running the studio. There are multiple stories about his mismanagement and burnout at Ghost Story Games. The chaos behind the scenes could end up being more interesting than this game.
Late on this but idgaf. Bioshock Infinite was a lightning in a bottle game when the late gen Millennials and Early Gen Z were being called “the smartest generations of all time”. You had shit like Tumblr, Sherlock, Rick And Morty, Big Bang Theory, eventually Black Mirror, and other pseudo intellectual shit being peddled when back in the day, gaming was a bit more simplistic in storytelling to the point where even kids could understand what was going on.

These Millennial kids were getting straight A’s on essays talking about edgy leftist political shit back in the day and talking about post modern ideology about how superheroes were evil, Mufasa was actually the bad guy all along, and the Jedi Order was actually evil. Religion was being raked over the coals and God was actually evil and you basically get the idea.

Bunch of new shit for previews dropped recently. Sounds actually kinda interesting.

Some of the stuff
-Hacking is present and supposedly works based on If/Then statements to the applause of YandereDev
-Giant robot dog is a method of transport between stages, can be upgraded, needs to be fueled
-Story set up is that some Jew named Rosenberg got really neurotic about his dad being an anti-vaxer and so he built the mother of all smart watches using chat GPT which told him to get a bunch of people and fuck off from earth due to impending cancer aids plague (what's up with Jews fucking everything up in Levine's games)
-Upgrades aren't done through skill trees and are instead done via hidden challenge type things
-Levine says it leans way more towards SS2 than Bioshock or Infinite (I'll give him some credit here, he seems to understand why alot of people dislike Infinite)
-Game is supposed to be drastically longer than BS1 or Infinite
-He actually goes into some spoilery stuff
-Each of the big 3 story characters are robots who have been made aware they're robots and as such want to peace the fuck out for different reasons
-Cowboy guy actually wants to find the planet and fulfill the whole purpose of the original plan
-Black chick wants humanity to die and skynet shit up
-Redhead chick wants Canadian health care

This is just Bioshock Infinite but in space and with a Elizabeth as a protagonist. Seeing that BI was such a shitfest and that was 10 years ago, I can't see it being remotely good.
yeah bioshock sucked and everything but the christfaggot circlejerking is starting to get a bit out of control lately
yeah what your zombie loser of a failed messiah wants is for you get mad about videogame titles you fucking retards, do go on
The game isn't even about Jesus remotely, but I love how the Son of God makes retards like you seethe for no reason because you are subject to His Love and Mercy even though you try your best to remain free of it. Cope, seethe, mald and find Christ faggot.

Game is supposed to be drastically longer than BS1 or Infinite
Translation: game will waste your time with repetitive filler content to pad out the length and make autists with no life feel like they got their money's worth.

The metrics we use to judge video games are so self-defeating. Of the criticisms I have of Bioshock or Bioshock Infinite, the length of the games are absolutely not among them.

the reason is how shitty this kind of posting is you dumb motherfucker

go ahead and hide behind your faggot messiah when you do it though; that was exactly my point, probably

If you had a problem with it, you certainpy didn't help it by bwing retarded, abrasive and doing the exact same thing but in reverse. Frankly, you just seem like another low-impulse, low IQ tard, so I' ll leave it alone before this gets too out of hand. No need arguing with retards that don't follow their own advice.

Well you see, according to a preview I saw yesterday it's not Bioshock in space. It is totally different and doesn't have anything in common wish Bioshock.

Turns out though that it's just Bioshock in space, has all the hallmarks, looks the same, comes even with its iconic 50 degree fov. Never saw that plot twist coming during the preview.

The politics of Infinite (at least the baseline game) are hilarious if one stops and checks 'em. Christians bad. Racists bad. Revolutionaries bad too. Libertarians bad. Collectivists bad. Protagonist bad. Elizabeth good! In all timelines! More Elizabeth! In a clear sign of reworks or shitty writing, you essentially jettison the entire "Columbia Bad" perspective and end up in a multiple-timeline shitfest with no clear reason or rhyme and the only important thing is Saving The Girl.
You are oversimplifying things.
The point of divergence being Booker/Cornstock's baptism and that the total expungment of past sins could be a barrier to growing from the path was thought provoking, but the fact Levine isn't Christian leaves a bad taste in my mouth, as he never considered baptism sacred in the first place

This game looks like shit. It seems like it's going for style over substance and its style is AIDS. The only thing that'll change my mind is if one can put space Jews into the space oven.

I feel like I need a ranking of what games to play and avoid, new and old.

So Ken made a game where the Black woman becomes deluded into believing she is a god and wants to destroy humanity? What did Ken mean by this?

That's called System Shock.
Talk about being so bereft of ideas you go from being inspired bu Sysyem Shock to making a shittier one.
