Also I'm kinda suprised Square hasn't announced an RS3 remake. Considering that Revenge of the Seven Heroes was well recieved, maybe in a year or two they'll do something.
Honestly that would be pretty cool. SaGa remakes for the most part always seem to be an improvement over the originals. Romancing SaGa 3 is one of my top three snes jrpgs. It has some pretty neat areas and scenes that would probably look pretty cool in 3d. Or I think it would even look pretty good with art style they used in the overworld Scarlet Grace, though maybe without the anime visual novel style cutscenes.

I haven't actually played the remake of two yet, I didn't like RS2 as much as RS3. I wasn't really the biggest fan of the inheritance gimmick. The remaster of Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song is probably one of my favourite rpgs of all time, it generally improves on the ps2 version in pretty much every way which itself is already a massive improvement over the snes version of the first Romancing SaGa which I honestly couldn't handle playing. I tried starting as Albert and barely made it into the first cave before I got sick of the constant slow paced battles. I tried again with Barbara and opened up the frontier towns and started with the save the child from the cave quest but ended up wiping in the cave and didn't bother reloading. The DS remake of SaGa 3 is also a big improvement over the gameboy version bringing it back to the classic SaGa system and adding in some of the systems from Minstrel Song and the later SaGa games.

I'm thinking of starting SMT Nocturne on my playstation 2, but I don't know if I'm going to miss anything by not playing prior games first.
Nope, good luck finding another JRPG that measures up though, Nocturne is the absolute pinnacle of the genre.

Really wish we could get a proper remake of it instead of the half-ass remaster that Atlus shat out.

If something is truly the pinnacle of its genre then it doesn't need remake.
I wouldn't say that it needs a remake, the original PS2 version still holds up, but it deserved better than the low-effort remaster that we got.

Still crickets for Tales although we do know that Xillia 2, Abyss, and Destiny are in the pipeline. For some reason Arise is getting a Switch 2 port......

If it was perfect as it was, a simple remaster IS all it needs, as anything else is just tampering with the perfection.

Removing Dante from Nocturne is objectively a downgrade.
Dante wasn’t in the original Japanese SMT III, he was added in the Maniax re-release. The Matador was the original stalker NPC.

Outside of Japan, Maniax was renamed Nocturne and was the only version released.

It probably cost Atlus a pretty big licensing fee to Capcom to let them put Dante in the remaster, which is why he’s DLC and not included in the base release.

Considering how Atlus operates these days, be grateful that option even exists, they could have always just kept it to the Matador and told the fans to get bent.

I just saw that Square Enix stuck a few of the SaGa games on GOG. And this is after they put FFVII, VIII, and IX on there a couple months ago. I think it would be foolish to expect them to put new releases on there, but hopefully this means they're gonna put all their old stuff on there.

Speaking of Smt, im considering getting Raidou on steam. From the looks of it plays different to its siblings. Is it worth a pick up?

Nah, you won't miss a beat. It wasn't until the latest games where they tried to give their games some sort of continuity but even with that, you can treat every SMT as its own island in the saga.

Btw, a small piece of advice in SMT3. Go for strength on the MC. Best stat overall

Sorry for the double post, but Raidou is a pretty good game. It plays vastly different than old SMT and you could say it's Pokemon: Exorcist edition since you have to weaken demons to add them to your party.

Battles are real time and some of them can be extremely dodgy, specially when you hit the mid game and enemies become really beefy. But in general it's a really great game. The plot is nice, the Showa era aesthetics are great... I will always recommend it

Raidou Remastered is nice but it's not a remaster, that thing is a remake.

You could call it a labor of love since it's obvious the guys behind it cared, but it has the issue that if you play the remaster, Raidou 2, which is a significant upgrade from the original Raidou 1, feels like no upgrade at all.

No. Play the original on PS2. You can emulate it.
Honestly Raidou 1 is pretty mid all things considered. I never played Raidou 2 so I don't know if things improve a lot in the sequel, I'm going to assume so, but god if you're going to play Raidou 1 stay away from the PS2 OG the gameplay for that game sucks. You have one combo and one other move and the gameplay gets stale 3 hours into a 20 something hour game. The encounter rate is also complete aids. Whatever the item equivalent of Estoma is barely does shit so prepare to mindlessly hit the same one combo on annoying enemies at any time. Apparently they iron these issues out in the remaster but honestly I was so sick of Raidou 1 that I never even bothered playing it. It's also just a heavy visual downgrade from the OG so it's kind of a lose/lose playing Raidou 1 in general. Extremely disappointing game because everything outside the gameplay is cool looking enough.
One of the games I wish I could play from the start as a new experience.
I finished this a while ago and I genuinely could not believe that a Tales Of game could have a story as good as this. I always loved the series, but it was purely from a gameplay perspective. I was completely blown away with how good the story was in this game. It really only made me more mad at Bamco for being completely fucking incompetent with the series not only now, but even back then. I don't know if it's my favorite game in the series (Personally I still like Graces and Destiny PS2 way more because their gameplay is addicting), but it's absolutely the best game Team Symphonia cooked up. Also all of the party members are fantastic. Even Natalia who I was the least warm on came around towards the last third of the game. Jade blows them all out of the water by a country mile though. The next game in the series I'll play will probably be Destiny 2 or Narikiri Dungeon X which I'm looking forward to a lot.
If I posted CD keys on here, would you guys give my shitty game a chance?
Honestly I thought you'd post it unprompted I was ready for some poor soul in the thread to take the keys and give it a shot.

@HexFag I admit, Raidou 1 is a very dry game when it comes to gameplay. however, Raidou remake seems to have the opposite problem where it has the gameplay of Raidou 2 and then some, but you will end up spamming that one broken ability and forced to watch a few second animation everytime because its that OP. Also dosent help that the demons control worse then in Raidou 2 and the camera being wonky.

A Tales of Eternia remaster was listed on the official game rating site before being quickly removed.

So now we know we are getting Abyss, Xillia 2, Destiny, and now Eternia. I recognize the short haired Snow White esque girl in the orange dress. I believe she was one of the coliseum opponents in Symphonia (fuckin Meredy and her ACID RAIN yell....lol)

Also I caved and got Visions of Mana purely out of curiosity.
