I so badly miss 2018-era "voice of reason" JBP. 💔 If only he'd taken his 15 minutes and gone back to being a university instructor, as opposed to doing... whatever this is.

Peterson Academy.png

The site claims you can learn from the world's best and uses the tired adage of most learning institutions: How to think, not what to think. Funny stuff.

The site claims to be devoid of ideology. If Jordan was more honest be should rebrand as Peterson Academy for the Incredibly Naïve.

The site also implies students will get a bachelor's degree at a low cost (without mentioning anything you could get a degree for). So, it will carry the value of an online degree? I wonder if the status of Jordan's academic license would impact this in any way.

Best case scenario for JBP fans: Jordan himself is there teaching people in a classroom (or livestreaming) and going back to his roots as a teacher.

Likely scenario: Jordan is using his brand to draw people in and he's not actually present for much of anything except the marketing material or via pre-recorded videos and the rest of the time is spent with other instructors/classmates.

Curious to see how it plays out, but not holding my breath.

Look at that classroom!

Obviously not a conjob taken at some rented space bought yesterday.
If JBP wanted to furnish a set to look like a traditional academic space, I don't see why it would be all that expensive or difficult for him. I think the hyper-minimalist look is intentional and a result of pretension, not cheapness.

I'd be glad to shell out a few bucks for new JBP Bible and philosophy lectures on par with his pre-fame lectures. Unfortunately, this whole enterprise has all the hallmarks of JBP's worst post-fame endeavors: a grandiose messianic tone (as if setting up yet another online lecture video platform a la Wondrium and MasterClass is really going to upend traditional education), a lack of technical polish, political pandering (on Peterson Academy's social media), and an overall scammy, Trump-University-ish vibe.

Hi, kids! Welcome to Peterson Academy! I'll see you in a few weeks. Until then, I've turned things over to my bestest buddy in the whole wide world--
[Dubbed Voice] Mr. Black.
I want you to treat--
[Dubbed Voice] Mr. Black.
With the same respect you would give me. Now here's--
[Dubbed voice] Mr. Black.

Getting B& from twitter was the best thing that's happened to this nigga since like 2019, I honestly thought he did it on purpose because he knew it was bad for his mentals and he didn't want to admit it. Turns out I was probably wrong, what with the gusto he went after it when when he came back. Shapiro seems to be be desperate to extract maximum value from him with no regard for JBP's health/vitality. Peterson needs to get away from DW and rein in his fuck thot daughter, but he leans on her way too much and doesn't seem to understand how horrific/contrary to his message her public image is.

It will always end this way with right grifters , Coaching/crypto/cult , sometimes all three at once. All these washout hacks end up grifting courses where they don't teach anything even remotely useful but try to milk the paypigs for all they have.

JP did that to put himself on a cross, and then got mad when people laughed at him. He's no Jesus he's more like ... (Disney movie name here). I found it amazingly funny he cried about than then goes on the USE YOUR REAL NAME SO I CAN CANCEL YOU sperg.

This dude has sunk so low to paint a target on himself by doing something stupid, sorry calling a retard girl with a tit hack a girl on twitter of all places was not some proud Rosa parks moment like he thinks it was.

Flips out on cancel culture, then demands to be made king of canceling everyone else. While his daughter is shooting for BLACKED on his dime.

I don't think it is pretension. It is art in the highest sense. It is the artistic representation of the warmth, texture and sensations that a hyperindividualist experiences.

It has the vacuous emptyness of soul of someone that conceptualizes the bible solely through a yungian lens.

It ensures that no jokes can be made about the room not being in order, while radiating the complete emptiness of soul of someone working for the daily wire.

Despite being in a group together, with him and possibly audience talking, despite being close together, the set design ensures that the production breathes an emaciated lonelyness that fits with his message of eschewing identity politics (except for jews).

Alternative paths to accreditation are sorely needed but I'm not holding out hope for this particular grift.

Anyone remember thinkspot?
lmao

I read nothing about beeing an accredited University, so I'm not sure how this is going to drastically shorten the time one needs for a BA.
If you could earn transferable credits, fair enough but what this likely boils down to is that you can ace a 4 year degree in 2 because attending the course will.make you so big brqined everything a woke uni will throw at you is childs play.

I'm currently making my way through Maps Of Meaning.
So far I've found it to be enjoyable, if not a little verbose.
I somehow doubt many of his current audience would have the attention span to get through his earlier more scientific works.

After about page 60 it becomes very tedious and repetitive. The diagrams that he made on Paint are farcical too. He adds to them in a cumulative fashion until by diagram 6 or 7 you just have an unfathomable collage of ovals and arrows laughing at you for having spent $50 on Maps and Meaning. Undoubtedly though, those diagrams make sense to Jordan Peterson, which gives the best insight into his disordered eccentric mind.

I've a soft spot for Jordan. I don't think he's bad bloke but ultimately he should never have got so involved in politics. If your rules for life include "always speak the truth" when you yourself "can't talk about it", then your destined for implosion.

He should just take the money and run and enjoy his grandchildren.

I listened to the latest Rogan episode with Peterson, hoping I'd get to gawk at some more of his crying and weird tangents. There was nothing good, though. He claimed he's never been at more than 60% capacity for his previous JRE appearances, which is a serious humble brag, but he indeed sounded better and stayed vaguely on topic this time.

If you follow this thread almost none of the discussion was new. They start by covering his recent reprimand and re-training order by a regulatory board, and predictably dismiss them. Peterson also lets us know he's still bent out of shape over anonymous lulz. His old stand-bys appear throughout: Biblical archetypes and allegories, heavy psychologizing (especially things he dislikes), Neomarxism, trans. He did catch my attention claiming that he predicted the explosion of teen FTMs as part of his opposition to bill C-16. I thought it was all about the return of Stalinism or something, but it's been 6 years and I'm not actually going to fact check this.

His big announcement is an effort to organize a think tank around a Cornucopian vision of the future, in contrast to the austere WEF "Eat Ze Bugs" model. They have an upcoming conference, but nothing to offer you and me yet. He also hawks the writing app and Peterson University. The Great Man will save us from genocidal elites and nut job universities; no need for bottom-up political organizing, and definitely no anonymous criticism. Yawn.

To me JP's recent activity seems geared towards a political campaign of some kind. Maybe he's just selling out a little bit, but he doesn't seem like the type of guy to chase money for money's sake. I'm sure he has enough of it already. Political games are expensive.

"down with the unqualified "experts" trying to decide our future, i want our future decided by unqualified "experts" that share my ideology"
Anyone who acts like theyre exempt from having a will to power and money can fuck off.
