I watched an interesting video with Jordan Peterson in the other day -
Asking a Theoretical Physicist About the Physics of Consciousness | Roger Penrose & Jordan Peterson
Considering he was dealing with one of the greatest minds of the last century or two (Roger Penrose) then I think he held his own pretty well.
Having said that, Penrose looked like he didn't really want to be there. He looked fucking pissed off most of the time, and in more than one part he tried to hide his contempt for Peterson bloviating about this or that, which had little to do with the points being discussed and more to do with how Peterson could ingratiate himself in to the wider discussion whilst looking very clever.
Well, he didn't look clever. But he did look pretty competent. I mean, Penrose didn't just rip his microphone off his cardigan and storm out in a rage, although he did look as if he wanted to at certain points.
It was an interesting discussion over all. Escher played a part and I never knew that Penrose met him and even influenced him. So that was a plus.
Peterson also looked quite snappy and healthy as well. For an ex benzo junkie that is.
Theoretical physics and consciousness is an easy area to bluff I suppose. I wonder why Penrose even got involved in the first place with this circus.
All the same, there was some interesting side-lines. Worth a watch if you have the time.
But Peterson looks far from being totally fucking wrecked. He's lucid, he's well-presented. I thought he came across rather well. I was surprised.
But don't worry, FUCK YOU DAD!
I'm still not going to clean my room!
