It's a bit sad to hear that Yooka Laylee may not be very good. At least Mighty No 9 ended up being a entertaining trainwreck to witness. I may still pick it up once I get a system to play it on, and when the game gets a price drop cause either way $40 seem a bit too much.

Well Jim finally posted his review of the game and already i've seen someone disregard his review as "Being butthurt that Jontron was removed" on steam.
This is more a "hitpiece" than a "review" but what should I expect from Jim? I'll have to see about the controller issues when I get the game, cuz I was a backer and got to play the "Toybox Experience" and never had any real issues w/ it. Jim also complains about a lot of things that are hallmarks to Banjo-Kazooie (yknow the game this is supposed to a successor to) such as the "voice-grunting" and end-of-game game show quiz.

Seems like Jim is being the boring, unpleasable cunt he normally is, and is looking for any reason slam this game for the good of Social Justice.

It happens because unity is notorious for having performance issues on anything it runs on
Unity is an extremely finicky engine, but unfortunately it IS the best of its class. Considering the Playtonic's crew had a team of geezers and youngins, they may not have had as much experience w/ the engine and that could have caused performance issues.

Overall I'm still optimistic that the game will deliver the experiences and goods I payed for.

Isn't Jim known for being an SJW though, even being happy when he heard that Playtonic removed Jontron from the game?

Yes but as I said jim is also a cunt. Earlier in the thread everyone was talking about why booting wasn't worth it: cuz people like Jim and groups like NeoGAF are still going to devour you just the same, and delivering their wishes only makes them more bloodthirsty.

They planned to pan this game from the start, mark my words. Getting jon cut was just to turn the game's actual fans against it too.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean he's not also going to maximize his clickbait potential by blasting the game now that it served its purpose. What, you think that fat fuck won't try to have his cake and eat it too?

Repeating what i said on Jim's thread, i think he was too agressive for no reason here, he doesn't elaborate the issues beyond "This is bad and i'll leave it at that" so his sperging sounds whiny and angry. I guess the game aint that good but 2/10 was too harsh IMO.

Well, i wasn't hyping myself to No Man's Sky levels so i'm not mad, i heard it's running fine on PC and the gameplay looks notalgic/fun enough, but a bunch of people are probably expecting Jon to make a "revenge" video on it. I hope he supports it despite the drama, i want this game to be a sucess and get a much improved sequel (:optimistic::optimistic::optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:).

Back again w/ what appears to be a much more fair review than Jimbo's
This guy touches on some of the same points as Jim does but he actually explains them unlike Jim. He mentions the camera IS terrible and there's some issues w/ lag input, but overall the game is still fun and well put together for fans of old-timey games.

Forgot to add: a friend of mine mentioned to me that Jim scored this game worse than Mighty Number 9, while this guy seems to think the game is fine outside of some fixable issues... make of that what you will.

To be fair, that review was written by his pet tranny Joshua Dale. Who knows, Sterling might have given MN9 a 1/10.

Yeah I'm not trying to give the impression that Unity is bad or anything. I've done some work in it myself and it's definitely robust and easy to use. I guess I should say "Unless you do a hell of a lot of optimization work, out of the box Unity is known for having performance issues on anything"

That's what I meant. I've worked in Unity a bit myself (mostly trying to assets into it, im not a programmer) but jesus christ if youre going to work in it you need to know a lot of shit to produce something passing, especially if youre going multi-platform.

Average is better than flat out broken and ugly like Mass Effect right?

I hate the SJW principals that went on in the studio, but if it's playable and enjoyable that's more than enough for me.

It's crucial to note that Jim Sterling rated this fucking thing lower than many of the titles he puts on his end-of-year worst lists.

He's implying it's worse than Mighty Number 9, worse than Umbrella Corps, worse than fucking Raven's Cry.

It is lower than the score he have Aliens fucking Colonial Marines.
Considering how much he bitched about Aliens: Colonial Marines, I'm not buying his review for Yooka-Laylee. Aliens was so bad he spent months making videos talking about it, and somehow this game is supposedly even worse?

This shit is part of the reason I don't trust Sterling's reviews.

Mass Effect received better reviews than this, but that has millions in marketing and the right side of history behind it.

They fucked themselves over with removing Jontron so close to the game release. Disgruntled fans of his will find more game flaws to bitch about/will make it a bigger deal than they would have had he stayed in, and the people who would have complained about Jontron's inclusion are going to find some fault with the game and label it problematic anyway.
