Got a bit of a question, but Jontron's part of Maker Studios right? They give him a set and everything for his show and all.
Now the Pewdiepie salt got him pretty much fired. How come the Jontron salt hasn't done similarly? Is it because it's mostly been concentrated in "games journalism" instead of spread by something like the WSJ?

Probably because unlike Pewdiepie, Jon runs Normal Boots which is a rather large multi-niche appeal entertainment producer. You get rid of Jon, you get rid of a shitload of other content.

It's basically the reason Jontron's hated by the clique, including David Gallant, Dan Olson, and more.

Short Version: Zoe Quinn and her friends were part of a big event set up by Maker Studios featuring several prominent YouTubers, including TotalBiscuit and Jontron. Zoe Quinn and her Indiecade buddies, Robin Arnott (who she fucked), Davey Wredon, and Tom Jackson also attended, to acquire the coveted indie circuit cred. This was a mistake.

Quinn and friends decided to turn the event into a complete clusterfuck because they didn't like the sponsorship it had (Mountain Dew) and intentionally sabotaged it by acting like autists, smuggling cans of Mountain Dew everywhere, wearing branded clothing, intentionally cursing and acting like assholes on set, making completely unreasonable demands, and generally fucking up the presentation entirely to ensure that it would fail because they wanted to fuck with the sponsor paying for the whole shebang. The entire thing came to a head when they were going to do a let's play and Zoe Quinn demanded they play a game that she made in which one has a staring contest with a picture of Jeff Goldblum.

Yes, I'm fucking serious.

Because doing a let's play of such a thing would be.... well, fucking impossible, Jontron refused, and called her out on her behavior. Quinn responded by claiming he was a misogynist and raised such a fracas over it that the sponsorship got pulled and Maker Studios was forced to cancel the entire event. NDA has pretty much entirely prevented anyone else from talking about the Game Jam itself, save for some people who came forth under condition of anonymity and a few bits from John Bain pointing out that Quinn is a lying sack of shit. Quinn meanwhile, has had her buddies frame it as a glorious revolution against corporate oppressors that cost Maker Studios $400,000.

Quinn would go on to crow about how proud she was of fucking up this production in the CON Leaks.
 
I don't know what you're talking about, @Jaimas. Surely, throwing infantile temper tantrums is the best way to overthrow capitalism!

By the way, word on the forum is that Team 17 was secretly a neo-nazi organization all along, since they're all white and kicked out the only person of color around.

It's no secret that the dangerhairs are the new moral busybodies of this generation, and time and time again, we see the people that surrender to them fall. Lewis Carrol had it right-a tyranny expressed for the "good" of the people is a tyranny that never sleeps. Give them an inch, they'll take a mile and still call you a Nazi or a misogynist. Give them nothing.

It's so strange to me how the pendulum has swung from conservative family groups and evangelicals to the supposed liberal youth as the people trying to police morality and such. Think about it; 20 years ago it was the family groups protesting the likes of South Park and Family Guy but if those shows were started today I guarantee you it would be these so-called liberals (Hell, most of them are already hating South Park for basically holding up a mirror to them).

It's interesting to note that in many cases, it's the same fucking people, too. Brianna Wu was a conservative that worked for Trent Lott before she became a fucking regressive leftist. Jonathan McIntosh was an Infowars-linking conspiracy theorist before he worked for FemFreq. Dickery knows no political party; if we've learned nothing else it's that we're always going to need to be on-guard against these kind of idiots.
