All it means is not to have out of place references of real world contemporary politics which doesn't sound like a hard task.
It's not a hard task for normal people, but they have inflated egos and think their political opinions are so great and obviously correct, they're worth shoving into everything they do, no matter how irrelevant and stupid they are in reality.

Eh, I'm still buying the game. I honestly don't care. I don't watch Jontron, I don't really know anything about him. Honestly, the most I've learned about him is through all the salt people are having over him. (which is...ridiculous. He hasn't said anything that is legitimately racist, in my opinion.)

So it sucks that they're removing him because a few pissy little babies feelings are hurt, but I've been waiting for another Banjo-Kazooie forever. And this game looks like it's going to be it. I won't be cancelling my preorder and refusing to play a game I have been waiting at least a year for, just because they removed the grunting noises of a Youtuber.

Again, it sucks, and I think it's a bad move by Playtonic, but it's not a good enough reason for me to boycott

Again, I hope to god the game's still good despite this.

Kickstarter's been gaining a reputation of where great ideas go to die, and human nature dictates we remember the fuck-ups way harder than the successes. We've had so many good things come out of Kickstarter - Dankmeme Dungeon, the Ducktales remake, Fucking Shantae; but we've had holocausts of disappointment like Mighty No. 9 as well. Kickstarter isn't a bad idea on its own, and when developers use it properly, fucking magic can happen.

I was interested in the game but just as easy as they can ditch Jontron - I can refuse to give them money.

Fuck these people. I'm not even a Jontron fan but people who kiss the asses of sjw DON'T deserve my money.

For many people, the issue is less capitulating to Social Justice in general so much as it is capitulating to NeoGAF specifically.

If you need a refresher on why caving to NeoGAF is an issue, we have this entire thread here.

I didn't know JonTron makes a rant about the superiority of the white race in-game. Why does no one ever understand what the people who want apolitical media are asking for? All it means is not to have out of place references of real world contemporary politics which doesn't sound like a hard task.
Admittedly, the statement "keep politics out of games" is poorly stated to begin with, so it's easy to form strawmen around it. Like how there's been this spat on Twitter about Metal Gear Solid not being political in itself just because it heavily references political things happening in the background.

A more accurate slogan would be "Don't have political beliefs overshadow everything else for the sake of making a statement" (see: Night in the Woods having the village's economy be fueled by blood sacrifices while never explaining how that was supposed to work - it's like that South Park episode with Britney Spears, except that was supposed to be nonsensical), but that just isn't as catchy.

agreed. The thing is, Playtonic could have just not responded at all. They could have just left his voice in and said nothing. The social justice cunts might have whined for a few more days, maybe even published some articles on their blogs that have a grand total of about 200 readers, but then would have dropped it when they saw they weren't getting any attention.

Playtonic would have just needed to keep their fucking mouths shut for a few days and tried to not think about potential controversy.

And they wouldn't be having this issue with people cancelling preorders and trying to get their kickstarter donations refunded.

Politics is poison to gaming, on all levels. People enjoy games as an escape, not a way to proselytize others. Well, sane people at least.

This is why Colin Kapernik is looking for work, politicking in front of a captive audience that didn't come for the soapboxing will doom you, all actual talent aside.

Once there was a guy from Detroit named JonTron.

One day, a fellow named "Egoraptor" approached him and said "Hey, you know the concept of "Let's Play?" Where Youtubers do nothing but record themselves playing through and entire game and add their own comments? Well, lets take that concept, add a bunch of stoner humor, and make a new show!"

Thus, Grump Garbage was born.

Exactly. That's why entertainment is called entertainment. People want something to distract themselves from their problems, not remind them that life sucks or that other parts of the world are suffering. The moment you try using entertainment media to try espousing your dumbass political beliefs, you cease to be entertaining because now you're reminding people of what they want to get away from.

The fact that politics has been digging its claws into virtually everything that's supposed to be an escape irks me.

Why do people never just force a charge back on shit when things on kickstarter break their campaign promises? I've done it twice and both went through quick

Probably don't even know that's an option or are seeking to do so through more legal seeming methods. Probably doesn't matter at this point either, due to the game releasing on 4/11/2017.

Personally, I would love to see the numbers on the damage done by this decision. Looking at the Steam page, Playtonic is offering the game at $39.99. If they're forced to refund something like 5000 sales, we're looking at a loss of around $200,000.

That Besada is a grade A asshole of the highest caliber. Stop harassing devs you cockmunch gaffers.

Yeah, imagine being butthurt enough by the jumbled grunts of someone you hate to demonize the developers.

This appeasement is temporary, places like Neogaf will turn on you again as soon as you do something "problematic."

Not completely true. They'll still hate you for doing it in the first place.

Its even more important to do it now before release, because it's pre-delivery which makes the bank/card company automatically side with you on it

Problem is, you can't believe these people anymore when it comes to what does and doesn't make them uncomfortable. They'll pretend to get triggered by apples just to stir shit.

Though to be fair, the same goes for the majority of people who claim the game is ruined for them because JonTron's voice got removed. I don't think they could've really won here, but I still think just ignoring it would've been the best course of action.

OK kids, it's time for Uncle TiggerNits to sit you down and teach YOU, the paying public, why Capitalism owns bones and how you can use it to protect your fucking hard earned money even after giving it away to shitheads on Kickstarter and Pateron

Step 1:

Whip out your credit card/debit card/paypal account

Step 2:

Check your online statement to see when your charge to whomever went through

Step 3:

Call the phone number on the back of your card listed as "24 Hour Customer Service"

Step 4:

Be polite to the person on the other side and tell them a charge you were given for that date and person was done in good faith, but the person has failed to deliver as promised and this is now your only resort to getting a fair settlement.

Step 5:

They'll issue the charge back to your card, and possibly initiate an investigation ont heir own behalf to see what's gone on. This is why it is important to make sure you, the cardholder, only tell the truth, remain polite and thank them for their diligence.

Step 6:

If enough people do this and the issuer finds the persons taking money to be doing so in a fraudulent manner, they will then trigger a process that makes their credit terminals, ie the systems that take in their money, are flagged and not able to take in additional funds without it going to a 3rd party to ensure nothing actively criminal is going on, this starves them of potential income for awhile, or keeps them from taking a specific company's cards (Visa, Master Card, Amex, etc) for up to 3 years if it is a blatant misuse of the terminal as stated by the license agreement, or forces massive penalty fees against the company. Or , if it's really bad, they just sick the FTC and SEC on them instead and then the shit storm goes from a tropical depression to a goddamed hurricane of bullshit

Don't listen to the crazy socialists, your banks don't hate you and understand a happy consumer is an active consumer, they NEED you to survive and they don't mind helping you do so

That guy is doing Playtonic no favors by acting like an asshole to people who are already irritated at best.

I'm impressed by how quickly public opinion is turning against them, and how they're doing nothing to change that.
