Y'know I think that people wanting refunds over a free bonus for the game really speaks as to how many of the backers were JonTron fans, or at least demonstrates how many of them respect the guy.

Playtonic did a fairly lengthy hype run up to Yooka Laylee and as things were getting traction they asked Jon to supply a voice.

That's before the kickstarter began

So people backed thinking Jontron would be in it, even if that's a small thing, it's awkward because it's not something promised later, it was an arrangement set before the kickstarter even began. Potential justification for refunds

Yeah, I was actually going to get this day one to help support 3D platformers, reminds me of my childhood, but now I'm not even going to get it. I have too many games as it is, and that's another thing they didn't think about. They should've just been quiet on the whole issue, as April is a packed game release month, being kicked off with Persona 5. They already might've had trouble getting sales as it is, notwithstanding a giant controversy.
 
Is it bad that I'm not surprised those kinds of people were more than likely already in Playtonic? I mean, it makes sense with how they're currently handling the situation.

Also, to confirm, JonTron was NOT a stretch goal. I looked at the Kickstarter, he's not mentioned anywhere. That said, JonTron's love for this exact genre and what Playtonic is trying to do is so well-documented that even casual viewers know he likes his Banjo-Kazooie. They have awoken the Internet Autism Machine. God have mercy on their souls.
 
Apparently Yooka-Laylee has already gone gold, which means the game is already completed. In order to remove Jon's voice from the game, they'll have to do a Day One patch that replaces it. So you want to keep Jon in the game, don't download the patch.
 
I was interested in the game but just as easy as they can ditch Jontron - I can refuse to give them money.

Fuck these people. I'm not even a Jontron fan but people who kiss the asses of sjw DON'T deserve my money.
 
I honestly don't give a shit about what any game developer believes as long as they can keep their bullshit out of their games. This, however, is just saddening.
 
Eh, I'm still buying the game. I honestly don't care. I don't watch Jontron, I don't really know anything about him. Honestly, the most I've learned about him is through all the salt people are having over him. (which is...ridiculous. He hasn't said anything that is legitimately racist, in my opinion.)

So it sucks that they're removing him because a few pissy little babies feelings are hurt, but I've been waiting for another Banjo-Kazooie forever. And this game looks like it's going to be it. I won't be cancelling my preorder and refusing to play a game I have been waiting at least a year for, just because they removed the grunting noises of a Youtuber.

Again, it sucks, and I think it's a bad move by Playtonic, but it's not a good enough reason for me to boycott

I didn't know JonTron makes a rant about the superiority of the white race in-game. Why does no one ever understand what the people who want apolitical media are asking for? All it means is not to have out of place references of real world contemporary politics which doesn't sound like a hard task.
