I have no specific Canadian knowledge about this but it's probably a due process issue, i.e. right to speedy trial although Canada may call it something else. If there's an actual time bar on it, and they have a lot of cases, they're going to triage cases and focus on more serious crimes. This is easily the kind of semi-bullshit case that would get triaged or they'd offer some near nothing plea like a fine.
But does Canada have anything remotely resembling a right to a speedy trial? From down here it is starting to look like the only inalienable rights Canadians have is the right to be pedophiles troons and rapists.

A right to be tried within a reasonable time is part of our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Here's a Wikipedia link to Section 11 of the Charter which deals with this. The time ceiling for regular court is 18 months and Supreme Court cases must be heard within 30 months, as per the R. v. Jordan Supreme Court decision in 2016

In the States it can be extended if all parties agree...Especially in civil cases. If such is the case,
JY has no good options...Disagree with an extension, her case goes out the window AND any case he was thinking about filing against Amy. Agree to an extension & we get the shitshow.

Amy Hamm and Anna Slatz are close friends. It was Anna who started two fundraisers (Double dipping) for her while Donald sat in jail.
This isn't about going after Jonathan, it's about turning it into a money making operation for her and her friends.

You guys sucked up hard to Anna and see how that turned out. Amy is no different other then she's slicker then Anna who tends to lose her shit easily.

Don't be shocked when Ezra the grifter brings her on board as well, to maximize the profits.

No one cares what you say, and you should kill yourself.

The "right to be tried within a reasonable time" pertains to someone charged with a crime. Criminal charges. As in the crown against a person.

The Hamm vs Hambeast case is a civil action. There is no right to a speedy trial as this isn't a trial.

Yeah I forgot what thread I was in and thought this was his dumb weapons charge.

"Govern yourself accordingly". Hot DAMN that's the most based conclusion to a legal or any other document i've ever seen. I fucking LOVE it and will use it shamelessly. Fuck 'dearest regards' or even 'without prejudice'. "Govern yourself accordingly".....that's THE SHIT. 👍

It’s pretty great. But if you want savage, check out the classic “reply in Arkell v Pressdram”. Also a defamation case!

Does anyone know if Canada has the equivalent to a show like Judge Judy? I would watch the shit out of this lawsuit if televised. I would even have popcorn and invite over some friends.
The gay people channel, whatever its called, on cable should get Ru Paul to dress up like a judge, and arbitrate over "cases" by troons. They could call it court of balls. I might watch that if they got goofy enough troons to appear and get Ru Paul to say they are right.

Definitely not. Our justice system takes itself far too seriously. No retired judge would dare. Even a lawyer who participated would be seen as a black sheep at a minimum and could face disciplinary proceedings from the provincial Law Society. I can provide a list of truly bullshit CJC/Law Society if desired.

Me too. Might make for some hair-raising moments though.

Been a long time since this lawsuit started, but was this a small-claims case (which Judge Judy and most TV judges are) like the cases filed by the Rebel Media journalists for Yaniv attacking them?

The one against Amy Hamm was an attempt at criminal proceedings. So it wouldn't be like Judge Judy. More like what used to be CourtTV. And seeing that in Canada would be like hell freezing over. Canada is like the United Kingdom in terms of the seriousness of how proceedings go.

But even in the UK we have Judge Rinder, which is basically just our version of judge Judy with a younger gay man as the judge lol

1) That’s super cool/fabulous
2) The Canadian Judicial Committee is so tightly wound that it wouldn’t happen. Check out Justice Patrick Smith - no good deeds go unpunished.
